Depends on what you want to learn as well as you. If you don't have a basic understand or a love for computers its going to take you far longer to learn it than if you really love this stuff and put a little time in you can pick it up fast.

The best way to learn programming is to learn alone on your computer. There are a lot of very good and free tutorials on internet.
My tip to learn faster is to do a little project for any thing you just learned.

I agree that working on an actual project is one of the best/fastest ways to learn. However, before that you should have a solid foundation of your programming language. So try a resource like https://www.codecademy.com/catalog/subject/all (plenty of free courses). Take the foundations course for your language of choice. Once you've completed that course and understand the basics, then tackle a project (large or small; real or practice).
You will find that you'll frequently come across parts of the project where you'll be totally stuck or just want some guidance. For that, search the web for tutorials about that specific problem. There are tons of written/video tutorials out there on virtually every topic -- and if there aren't learning resources out there for a particular topic, then consider it advanced and set it aside for now. Often, when you come back to it later, you'll be able to approach the problem with new eyes and may not even need guidance at that point.
Bottom line for the most efficient learning path: Start with the basics of your language, then incrementally improve your skills and abilities as needed while working on real projects.

Id say the absolutely fastest way to learn would be to start with codeacademy, move on to other tutorials from udemy or lynda etc. Then code a lot, finish project after project and maybe get a mentor that answers questions and helps u were u got stuck once a week or so. The mentor thing would just be a bonus though.
What i would recommend you to do is choose ur language wisely, since some are a lot more useful then others.

I have a business that does in-class courses of programming. I only do local courses in my city so I am not poaching or trying to sell you something
a) Online courses are crap!. They don't work unless you have a strong base of the language. You could learn a bit with online courses but the whole how-to.
b) Where I live (a generic "banana country"), the salary of a programmer is from USD 1000 x month. If you are good at it, then you could earn $2k or $3k. Now, let's say that you are a good programmer and you decide to do online courses. With luck, you could earn around $400 x month, and it is only if you are picking a right course. So, most courses are done by cheap programmers or people that film their course during their spare time.
c) Watching a 3-hour long movie is tedious. Then try the same with a boring tutorial video. Most students never finish online courses.
d) The courses that I dictate are 100 hours long, about 3 days per hour. My courses are quite expensive (in comparison with online courses) but effective. An Udemy course costs $20, while my courses cost +$3000 US per student.
Is it possible to learn to programme in 100 hours?. Yep. How is it possible?. First, most people don't need to learn the whole language but to land a job. So my courses are focused on a simple task: develop business system such as an intranet system, database, security, web service, OOP and such.
e) The instructor/coach must be a seasoned programmer. I am seen many courses taught by junior programmers.
f) Most in-class courses are flexibles (they should be!), this means that the instructor must control the speed and focus of the course.
Advice: pick an in-class course and check who will be the instructor.
Also, if you want to pick a language: JAVA, by far!. Java developers earn a lot and it's highly demanded. Also, most java projects lasts years.

Not always true. Most of the IM related courses are hyped but there are some genuine courses for these technical things. I know you a person operating a successful site for last 8 years. Most of new enrollments he gets is through referrals from past buyers.

If you're driven and will dedicate time every day to working on it: free is perfect. However, if you're one of those people that need the accountability of a paid course, then buy one!
I did some self-studying of my own, but currently completing a BS in CS thru a well-ranked college in the states so your mileage may differ.
Personally I recommend starting w/ something like CS50 which is a course taught by a Harvard professor (https://www.edx.org/course/cs50s-introduction-computer-science-harvardx-cs50x) and then doing something like FreeCodeCamp or the Odin Project or moving on to a different language depending on your goals.
Coursera also has a ton of courses by faculty who currently teach at high-end colleges so I wouldn't scoff at free. Even the crappiest free courses can be enough if you put in the work & then try to create your own project. Sure, you might have to re-learn some stuff and learn new stuff if&when your goal is to get a job, but you'd have to do that anyway even if you have the best teacher.

you have No Idea what you are talking about , i learned 100% online never attended offline course , courses on reputed online platforms always created by experienced programmers .

Start with Visual Basic , they are easy , once you learn code then you can make any kind of softwares .

firstly you need to know basics...because everything is basics (this is quote used a lot in martial arts...and said by all old masters...) ...then programming its not like something you learn in a period of time and stop...its a ongoing learning...

Well if you play it smart it will just cost you rent, electricity and the cost of food during your learning time. But to be fair you won't become a good programmer overnight, not even in a year and most likely not even in 3 years. Sure within a few months you will be able to make some simple scripts/apps. But you'll need to learn allot that isn't just the names of functions, design paterns, types and many other things along the way. You won't be making enterprise apps within a few weeks.
You can do something in a 1000 different way's with programming but just a few will be good for your app and it will change in any scenario. But with any profession you will get better over time. But if i can suggest you a language that is versatile i can suggest c#. As it's very populair atm you can achieve allot with it. Websites (ASP.net), phone apps (Xamarin forms), desktop (WPF) and you can even make console apps cross platform with .net core. Plus C# is a C style language what will help you great with other languages like Javascript, C++ and many other C style languages.
But i think the most important in learning to programming is that you enjoy it and you get satisfaction from solving issues.
