How much does CONTENT QUALITY actually affect SEO?

Content for SEO doenst matter AT ALL, don t let these people that haven't test anything in their entire life's fool you, you need quality content for your visitors but there is absolutely no need to entertain bot with $10/words content.

I have sad this many times, i have leadgen sites that have stand the whole update farm and are still raking in calls every day, crappy content still ranks like it was 2005, the thing is.... BOT CANT READ.....

So if you're going to use crappy content make sure you have a system (redirect, cloaking) to sent you visitor to a site where you have great content and get your conversions, but do yourself a huge favor and dont buy into the: "you need high quality content to rank your site" mantra

Read what this guy wrote and then do the opposite, you'll be a lot better off lol. Cloaking, why?

P.S. I don't know anyone that spends $10/word... You can get great content for 2 cents a word or less. Hell there is a 20 page thread in the Making Money section about how a guy gets 50-70 kindle sales per day off of books he has written for $15 per 3k words.

I'd like to see a real comparison, if there's one. It is true that what bots read is just the "unique" part and not the "flow". So by quality it might just be refering to uniqueness.

But hey, I've seen plenty of sites with just a single page ranking up there. All that with less than 100 words, yet not even engaging words.

At some point in time Google started judging quality of pages/content by user engagement. They can do this with Chrome and even split-test SERP results. It is a misconception that the only thing they care about is uniqueness because they look for a lot more than that.

This is a story with no ending.
I believe Google can't recognize high quality of content, that will be impossible for now because there are not programs yet that can read the content and make a deference from medium quality and high quality content.

But there are programs that can make a difference from shitty content and good content, just by analyzing the structuring of the words and density ratio of the stop words ( which can indicate a low quality ).

But in the end Its not only google that will look at your article, you main goal is to have real people reading and if your content is shitty they will just read the first paragraph and exit your site.

Most of the guys forget that no one links to crappy content but there are plenty of people that would share and link to a content that gives true value to the reader. Of course maybe you'll have to do some kind of promotion at first so that your content could get noticed but if it provides true value to the reader there's gonna be shares and links - shares from real active accounts, and natural links from whole different referring domains on real sites.

Not to mention that it will minimize your bounce rate and will increase your positive user engagement, time on page etc.

So indirectly the high quality content is giving you better looking SERP for you.

If you're building links yourself then it doesn't matter at all. As long as your keywords are in there enough, as well as good LSI placement, the rest could be written by a 6 year old and the ranking algorithm will still consider it the same as if it were a Harvard professors Ph.D Dissertation.

BUT if you're building a website that's monitization depends on user response, then good content will obviously lead to better conversion. Also, with good content there is more of a chance for people to naturally link and share your website.

Content quality really matters nowadays even for websites with tier 1 links. And for moneysite its very important. But it should be written naturally. Google bots seek for overoptimization now.

While I was scrolling through writing services, I stumbled upon this question because our ranks are mostly due to the indexing bots and they probably don't have an algorithm so perfect or complex to be able to differentiate a good quality from high quality article. So if we put it in that perspective wouldn't the difference from a good to high quality article only be for the sake of reader retention?
So the biggest focus of an article would be keywords and relevance if we only focus on rankings?
Am I correct? Opinions from seasoned optimizers pls :P
Thanks in Advance!!

Basically everyone is rehashing the same truth, if you still don't get it then you're setting yourself up for failure. Money sites articles should be of higher quality than PBN articles. Ever since social signals became a ranking factor, content quality has been of more importance. Social signals is often taken in high regard to differentiate good quality articles from high quality articles.

So if you're optimizing, relate the kind of content you're after with the site on which you'd use it.

But they will NEVER penalize quality.

If you really belief that, then you really are clueless about how Google is running its business, sorry. The simple facty is that quality whitehat sites gets penalized every day, there are thousands upon thousands of high quality whitehat sites that get dumped on by Google after every update and shitty sites like Angielists and 3x yellowpages stay up in the SERPS.

Google isn't even close as powerful and never will be, you know how that do it? they see a problem that somwhat fix it and reshuffle the index after that Matt Cutts comes out with some bullshit Google propaganda about "create great content and they will come" mantra, making gullible people like you belief that they fixed the problem.

But they never really fix it, if you do testing instead of believing with Cutts is telling you you will find that Google isn't even close to be as powerful as people think, their just not.... do some test with some throwaway domains and find out what is real and what is bullshit.
