    1. You can easily get them free.
    phpbb
paid-memberships-pro (can't post links cause system doesn't allowed me to)

    2. Preferably once everyday for updated content.

    3. Yes, passion aren't gonna to feed your stomach, but at least go for something you like.
So you won't give up easily.

Source: I run a content membership site too.

But with this, you cannot easily run a professional site, you need to get good script without any bugs.

Exactly, there are a lot of variables involved which you might want to brainstorm if you'd like to include or not. And of course, this will have a direct impact on the actual start up cost of your membership site.

There are tons of options. But I suggest not to go cheap. If you do launch one you need to have premium options available. Ease of use for you and your customers, plus the ability to turn the whole site into a huge sales funnel. Going cheap will rob you of that potential.

Is it your first site? If it is, then I suggest you to start with a free site. There are a lot of sites available providing such kind of facilities. You may try with free site. If yo can able to make profit, then switch on professional site.
