Just out of curiosity, how much do you guys spend on content?

Currently, I have 8 full time journalists on staff. They write content for our internal network, guest posts, and client sites. They're incredible writers, but their wages are not cheap.

So out of curiosity: how much do you spend on content?

sorry to bump in.. I did article writing a year ago before realizing I can get more in the long run if I set my own site. I would ask $3 per 250 words, $7 per 500 to 650 word and $15 for 1000 to 1100 word article.

Though it may be "expensive", I have had several clients that even ordered 50 articles per week and it sometimes kills me.. specially if you are writing about mascara and makeup, legal matters, insurance, stocks, and many other topics that will make your brain bleed.

So I think $5 per 500 word article is a good price. You can't sacrifice quality. Well researched, no duplicates/spun contents, original, mashed up and well written - what more can you ask for.

Honestly, I feel bad for people who wanted to pay others for them to write and then complain like a mad dog because he/she didn't get a good article from his/her $3 pay.

Depends on project/quality needed obviously.

Most of the time I pay $5 for 500 words as well.
If the project needs higher quality content, I'll pay as high as $50/article. That's rare but sometimes I need that type of quality for certain projects.
