Serious question, how much do you need to spend on Google PPC per month, to actually get some results/clients for a service, not a product. Say on a tough keyword with about 3,730,000,000 results.

$2000, $3000, per month, or more?

Currently spending around $10k/month in adwords for the toughest keyword which is forex, and stocks for client. But that month is no where for the forex niche which has millions of searches per month. For an campaign like forex, i would say atleast 1k/day will give good results.

when it comes to your terms, i dont know exactly what keyword are you referring to, so cannot say how much budget is required approx.

Each keyword has its own bid and budget, so cannot tell, how much spend exactly.

What @beastboy85 said here, but I'd also add that I try not to work with clients who spend less than $1000 a month (or around $30/day). It is simply not possible to competitively bid for keywords for less than that budget range. If you consider that a click costs ~$1, it's going to be hard for a client to see good conversion with less than 30 clicks a day.

That really depends on the niche. Some clients selling internationally spend $600/day, a local business might see good results on $25/day.

Local business in medical field I manage spends approx 2k a month. Returned about 200 new patients last year. Approx lifetime value of a new patient is 1k. Needless to say it was a good year

How long is a piece of string ?

Depends on what niche and what keyword you are targeting.

If you're going after Forex or New York DUI Lawyers it's going to be a lot more than Dentists On Bali.

The real question is how much you can spend and still keep a positive ROI.
Let's say my client target is in leads (CPL) and the target is $20 for a lead, after optimization I get to the target and get him X amounts of leads for that price.
The job now is to increase the budget as much as possible while keeping the target ROI, so the budget will always be $20*X but my goal is to make X as big as possible.
