I see some people using sites.google and they rank well, google hosts your website and needless to say, riding on that DA is just insane.

You just have to remind yourself one simple thing in IM, if you can sell a product for $2, why not look for a product that can make you $200 per shot.

Don't just think about websites, there are a million different ways to make money online, like selling stuff off ebay using affiliate products LOOOL! It's insane because people who go on there already have buyers intent.

YouTube really is easier. This is a good point. The adsense revenue is good. I am still new to Adsense personally I've been thinking more and more about using it and building a website to helpp my web design sales and also teach others. It's all about the products for me, though. I've always made my real money through selling affiliate products, and also creating my own products that I can make direct PayPal cash off of without waiting for Adsense or anything else.

I guess to better answer what I said before, making money from a blog can go to any number. I did over $5000 in a 9 day product launch with a simple blog I had, and I had created my own info product and built a following through my blog.

How do you get that much visitors?
 
It depends on your experience, choice of niche, marketing tactics. It's not easy but with focus and determination $2000 a day is not out of reach.
 
Some of my client's websites that I've worked, earn $200-$300 per month through organic traffic
 
this is interesting thread, i am currently making around 1k+ from ecommerce website, still building content niche blog for affiliate and adsense monetizing, target $10k per month :)

I think creating a blog with quality content will help you to make money.But once you created the blog keep looking for that once a day.
 
buddy for instance, a career blog might charge $10 per month for users to gain access to their job board.
