How much do I need to invest to really take off.

I'm a noob to SEO and this whole world of IM. I've been doing my research on Affiliate marketing in particular for the last month or so. I'm going into my 3rd year of college and my true dream is to start an online clothing store for a street wear brand I'm developing, but as I get closer and closer to graduation I'm starting to realize that if my clothing business isn't successful enough for me to survive off of I'll have to join the rat race like the majority of my peers.

I got interested in IM (and my clothing line really) because of the freedom it would give me from a boss and a commute every day with little vacation time or flexibility. Luckily my family is fairly wealthy (I won't say exactly how wealthy, but more than wealthy enough to fly to any country in the world in first class seats for 4 people and then spend thousands of dollars on lodging, food and shopping). But this money won't be handed to me in a trust fund or anything of the sort if I decide to just be a bum and not even attempt to get a job with my education.

I know people say there is no auto-pilot "push-button" software or system that will get me earning thousands of dollars a week automatically. But I know there must be some way to outsource all of the hard work and get multiple revenue streams up and running quickly if I had enough money, right? How much would it cost and what steps would I need to take to hire people or buy legitimate software to build an online empire for me from the ground up in less than a month so I'm making at least $5k per month? (and if you're wondering why I even need to worry about money if I can just ask for a large sum of money to blow on hiring some people to do my work for me, understand that my question is partially hypothetical because there's no guarantee that I would recieve the money if I asked for it. I'm just wondering how expensive it would be)

Read and take appropriate actions till you become a master in working out working money-making strategies on your own.

If you have to ask those sorts of questions, then you don't have the knowledge let alone the experience required to actually run the sort of business you're talking about. 1 month? Not possible. Even if you knew exactly what to do, it would still take longer than that to get everything in place to the point where it started earning real money. The only way to perhaps start earning money like that "quickly" would be something like facebook advertising. But again, you don't have the knowledge or experience required to get that going and anyone that knows how to do it, is doing it themselves.

Bottom line, to accomplish what you want would require you handing a wad of cash over to someone that knew what they were doing and you be a silent partner. Cause you pretty much would bring nothing to the table except money. And it would still take several months to get things built and rolling.

This. Out of all the successful entrepreneurs I have met, 99% of them have been incredibly talented and focused individuals who spent years building their idea through blood sweat and tears. The way you have presented this question is typical for someone born into money and, to be brutally honest, I hope it fails for you. Not because you live a life of privilege but because you immediately look to outsource all of the "hard work" instead of trying to build something yourself all so that you can have "freedom" from a boss and loads of vacation time. If you want to become something then put your soul into it. Start reading books on IM. Struggle, go bust, bounce back. But you wont. And why? Because daddy will always be there with his cheque book, and it is clear that you have your eyes on it. 95% of the people on this forum are better than you. Even those who have only been working in IM for a few months. All because they seek to do it for themselves. I wish you the worst of luck with your IM journey.

It mostly depends on your knowledge. The less you know, the more you have to invest. Right now, you don't know a lot, which means you'll have to compensate by investing. My advice to you is, start learning. Learn, learn, learn, test, test, test, work, work, work, by the end of that you'll know how much money you need.

Although it is possible to outsource some, or even most of the work we do, you need to keep in mind that 99% of outsourcers will add little value unless you are already an expert and can tell them EXACTLY what to do.

A month certainly doesn't give you enough time to start earning that kind of money. A better approach might be for you to simply sell seo services to local businesses and find a JV partner to do the work. Notice the difference though between outsourcing the work for $1 per hour and finding a JV partner who you give at least 50% rev share to. The latter is far more valuable and could be your key to success without learning the industry.

Firstly, sign up with http://affilorama.com. It a good place to learn a lot of things relating to IM and how to be successful online for almost free. What you learn there can be applied to your business model and drive you sales. Designing your kind of website is going to take between $800 to $1,300 or even more based on what you want. SEO is no longer business as usual, you need to set aside $1500 to $3000 based on the number of keywords and pages you want to rank. For your kind of business model branding is a must, using paid ads like adword, social media and video is in evitable. You may not take on all these at the same time but as you make sales and grow your business. Let me now if you need anything else..

It's not a about the money, it's about the effort and dedication you put in, granted if you throw some money at it it will take off faster, but as you say you're a beginner I'd suggest you do all the grunt work yourself to see how it's like, what work and what not, and after you're completely familiar with something invest some money, hire other people to help and so on.

First you need a solid plan.
1.a niche keyword you are targeting (keyword planner) FREE
2.Hire a freelancer to make a very good website-Around ($1000-5000)
3.Add or buy content and if possible add unique content on a daily basis (depends on the rate of the writer.I hired one for $200 per month on odesk)
4.SEO,Marketing,Traffic(search for some best services here on bst(around $100-300 per month)

You may need around $2-5k to start

You got a legit way where someone who just has cash and no work ethic, knowledge, or experience can run up a $5k/mo profit in the first month in SEO/IM by just "outsourcing"?

You newbs need to wake up and use your brains before you get scammed.

If it was that easy, a typical "investment portfolio" would include the following:

1. Real Estate
2. Stocks
3. IRA/401 K/Retirement
4. Gold/Silver/Previous Metals
5. SEO/IM Earnings

Do you know why your financial adviser doesn't recommend #5 to you?

If all you had to do was throw money into IM/SEO and get steady returns everyone from your granny to Fortune 500 companies would be investing in it.

Unfortunately there is a "knowledge/experience" part of the equation that you won't be able to buy (at least not for cheap).

And anybody who can help you achieve your goal doesn't need your money, so therein lies the problem.

You can buy the best paint, brushes, canvas, and painting lessons money can buy. However a master artist that does not make.

OP, your Business Plan is doomed to fail because it is NOT a Business Plan.
It is an idea.
An idea that needs lots of work before investment.

A lot of people don't invest anything at all. I think they first earn some startup money and reinvest it.

You can invest $xxx,xxx and make no ROI or you can invest nothing and make millions. Makes sense?
