    Hiya Chaps
just been made redudant after serving 9 years in the Army as infantry soldier.

so i have no trade to come out to and been kicked out on my bum, as all the cut backs come in,

i have a pregnant wife and 2 children and have 2 months to move out of my married patch.

trying to find a job not many left..... only have driving qualifications from the job,

stumbled across this site and read a few topics on making cash(fate maybe),
i dont want to make my hopes up but a hundred pound a month would do me sound atm,
im not doing much now and could use my spare time to make money.
How do i start about doing it, the computers have changed since i was actively a member of the internet.
Using a linux netbook atm but could build a bigger windows pc if funds allow it.
    Thank you for your time
any help would be greatly appreciated
p.s im not a novice with pcs but dont know how to write scripts etc
also have 5meg broadband and 60gb allowance

Yes you can make money. How much will depend mostly on your ability to learn, scale up and get creative. There are some standard tools you must know how to use--some of them are free many are not.

Make sure to check out the downloads section of this site--it has many tools available for free that you would ordinarily have to pay for.

Fiverr is a good place to go to make money as well, once you learn your craft.

Make sure to read a ton, but when you're willing to try something, just try it. Don't spend forever reading.

    Good luck.

I always tell people like you, if you're a novice and you want to make a quick buck, start selling on eBay.
You don't have to be some huge powerseller to make a quick piece of money on there. Start minor and work up to major.

What I recommend you do, start with a couple of possessions round the house that you don't mind selling i.e. old games consoles, TVs etc. They won't draw in the biggest profit but they give you the feel of how eBay works for a seller.

Once you feel you have the gist of it, start sourcing dropshippers and wholesalers. I recommend using a few homegrown sources for that on this thread- http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/f68-dropshipping-wholesale-hookups/

Before you buy, obviously research what's hot and what's not which can be done through a simple search or Google Keywords, (plenty of threads on here if you use the search bar on the left)

Buy about £50-100 worth of stock, and start selling....work your way up from there!
I personally don't do this at all anymore because it's not really my direction but if you want to get your foot in the door this is the way.

    Good luck mate!

First of all I want to salute you as a soldier who has put in 9 years for our country.
I know the sacrifices you you have made only to be treated as cannon fodder once
your use has come to an end.
You've been busy so you wouldn't of seen the Internet marketing world and what we make
    from it.
First of all it's not a cake walk, you will see stories from people claiming to make $1000s a
day and you will see stories from people who cannot get off the ground.
IM is not an easy road, the people who think that it is are the ones who never make any money.
You have a lot to learn, however if you have the right mindset you can leapfrog
a lot of the people who are stuck in the "get rich now" state of mind.
wealth comes to those who strategically plan their attack.
Send me a PM or add me on messenger and I'll try and guide you.

You can`t even receive PM`s until 15 posts either :(

I am also from the UK, I am a student who can`t afford to balance the University load with part time work (tried and failed)

Although I am in a different situation to you, I understand the pressures of having bills to pay. I also am very new to IM. I would personally suggest micro niche sites (people call them MNS on here). I`d recommend getting a hostgator baby account, or even a hatchling till your first site is ranked and making cash. Then get a cheap domain at netfirms (should be discount codes for both gator and netfirms out there). :p

Before buying anything though read up on: micro niche sites, keyword research, programs + methods you can use to get ranked, wordpress sites + plugins, onpage SEO etc.

I`d also be happy to keep in contact and help you with anything you need. It will also give me some motivation!

Just get the 15 posts and get back to me :D

some personal 2 cents - please keep in mind all my personal opinion:

when getting started it's always best to stay in positive cash flow as much as possible, especially if cash is tight.

there's a lot of fantastic information in this forum however it's best to keep in mind that things like microniche sites, autoblogs, etc. can take up to 2-3 months+ to see the cash from any activity no matter how well you do it. CPA can pay quicker, some networks offer weekly payout or quicker, however usually you have to go through a month pay cycle until they move you up to faster payments. If it's a US or foreign based network, it may take another month for the cheque to clear through a UK bank.

easiest "quick hit" is providing internet marketing related services. Article writing, site building / management, and linking services. If you can get these turned around quick, you can usually these paid into a paypal account within a week, sometimes as quick as 48 hours.

"native English writer" article writing and some "high quality" link building can be done with no money or real time investment (it's pretty straightforward, nothing much to learn), once you get cash flow going, you can invest in software, proxies, etc. that will make the process go faster.

best place to get people to pay you to do this type of work is fiverr, freelancer.com, odesk, guru.com, elance. Here and other IM related forums are also good places to get gigs. It's always hard to get started in any freelance type of activity, and be prepared as some of the customers will dick you around. Look for jobs that have a well described task description, and always try to use some sort of escrow / milestone payment method. these will usually be better organized customers and if you do the work and they don't pay up, the escrow is there to back you up. Start cheap and build a good reputation, then you can bring your prices up.

Best thing about approaching things this way is that once you're in the habbit of "what to do" it's much easier to build some sites and make more passive income later on.

I really liked this post oxonbeef,

I would like to salute you too shrugss, i am also uk and quite new to IM my cousin is in afgan now and will not be home this christmas :(

My advise is quite similar to the others, READ READ and READ abit more, i have only been on this site about 3 weeks (although i made profile in july) as i was thinking of selling my facebook fan page when it was at 107k, it now stands at 276k (and growing daily) real fans built by myself from scratch, i haven't made anything from it yet but i am so glad i didn't sell it as my perseverance will pay off as i now know it will be a great source of instant traffic for me later down the road when i finally choose a niche for my blog.

A blog page is probably the easiest kind of site you might want to research if that's the route you choose to take, that's where i am going to start, but as i say i have been on this site all day and night every day for 3 weeks just reading, but everything you need is here.

    All the best

    regards

Thank's and i hope so, i will be having a chat with him so will mention how they have treated you, he has been in 3 year but we are looking for business idea's so he can leave, but even if i make money online (or should i say when) that will be no good as he doesn't want to be sat about like i do. He need's something to get out of bed for and keep him fit as he is big strong lad like so we will just have to wait and see.

I would suggest you open a skype account if you haven't already and add me once you have my skype name is rosie.sheard and when i'm online that will always be open if you want to contact me.

Take care, read and good luck,

    regards
