How much cash do you keep at home?

Good advice, thanks. Yes, I have more than I'd like in one bank.
I mean, I have multiple accounts, but the yuuuge accounts are all at one bank.
Which banks do you suggest, as the safest, where you live?

I don't recommend any specific bank.

But here's an idea : each bank account is usually insured up to a certain amount. In USA it's "FDIC insured".

Which means if that bank goes broke or something, they'll pay you up to that amount no questions asked.

This is per account.

So if you have 3 accounts, then you are insured up to 3x that amount. Usually 100k U$ per account.

So, don't put all your eggs in one basket and spread your risk across banks, you'll be glad you did.

I have about 8 Euros at home since there is everything else I need to live at home it lasts until my cigs are empty

What if the internet breaks down?
#doomsday
For good? End of the world scenario? If the internet breaks down like that, cash won't worth much either for too long. At least you will have paper to start a fire, i guess. :)

Rather have food, necessities stocked at home than stacks of cash for that scenario.

How long will that last, if that's all you have?

Sorry... you need to check the meaning of "cash"

Yeah, yeah. ;)

Better than many.

It will last for 3 weeks mate

More than the average person.

A few hundred usually sometimes a little more,

How long will that last, in your place?

I'm just going to buy this device to count my money and share the results here. Please allow sometime

A bit confusing. Yes, I know about the FDIC limit of $100k - but I assumed it was per person per bank. Turns out, as you said, it is per account.
However, in that case, why do I need to spread my risk across banks? Won't multiple accounts at the same bank be enough?

Nevertheless, spreading risk across banks is something I agree with. Need to find some time and get it done.

Self-sufficient? Good for you!

Not always. Cash will have its worth in most scenarios.
I agree with you about stocking necessities at home, though.

Lol you want my address and bank account number too?

In all seriousness cash is king. I keep a nice chunk of change stashed away just in case the economy collapses.
