For the first time, I was thinking of camping outside of best buy with a few friends for black Friday. I was wondering a few things about black Friday.
I'm planning to buy a high end laptop with a dedicated gpu, so how much do you think I can save on black Friday?
Aside from the laptop, how cheaper are most items in general?
Answer to any of these questions or any experience from your Black Friday would be highly appreciated!
I haven't had a Thanksgiving dinner in 4 years because of doing just that (I don't have any family anyway, so I'm not missing anything...pisses my g/f off, but that's another story).
Anyway, I'm that guy you'll see first in line...the line that wraps around the entire building... I'm first because I get there at about 4 or 5 o'clock on Thursday....with a tent.
I'll drop four or five thousand while I'm there (I buy everything they have a ticket for...nothing else. If you don't need a ticket to buy it, the deal isn't worth sitting out all night long for...trust me).
Also, don't bother going unless you plan on being 40th or ahead in line (which means you'll be there for a long @ss time). Once the tickets are gone they're gone. I don't know where you're at, but all the bestbuy's around here have prevented "ticket scalping" for the past 2 years (people used to collect the tickets and then sell them).
Anyway, I keep the stuff I like & I sell the rest of it. The first 2 years I did it, I sold it the day after I got it....just like everybody else on eBay was doing.
I still made a nice profit (because you're getting the stuff at INSANELY low prices...brand new WITH RECEIPTS....that goes a long way towards reselling).
The last two years, I waited until mid January to sell it (after everybody has already returned/sold the stuff they didn't want for christmas and all the things they got for cheap during the sale season).
I made more than I care to say doing that (as you and nobody else would believe me anyway).
The whole point of all that was to say this: You can save a freaking TON of money if you get the ticketed items (the ones where they only have 10 in the store and don't offer rainchecks).
It's turned into a "tradition" for me and a couple of friends of mine. As long as they keep doing it, and my body can handle sitting on concrete for 14 hours, I'll be there.
