I think it's individual. If you ever wanted to test your skills at marketing, PR, client service, programming, administration, taxes and be the boss and the worker all together in the same time, you have to be great in all of them to reach a decent amount of income, even 30k as @Jopeyes said. A good number of freelancers does not even qualify to a minimum wage like @bushra aqeel said, there are most of freelancers who makes minimum wage and some who really doing great. I have been a freelancer for the past 7 years and can honestly say I didn't lick honey all the time. there were really bad months, there were great months. there were times i didn't get one single job for a whole month and there was months I got 6-7 different jobs the same time. So to conclude, there is no specific answer, it's really up to you and your skills. Good luck brother.

Getting clients as a freelancer as nothing to do with luck as you create your own luck by marketing yourself.
You have to learn to market your skills in order to earn big in any industry as a freelance worker. It's as simple as that.

To make this kind of money, you need to stand out from the crowd. Have a nice looking Linkedin profile with lots of testimonials and followers (fake it till you make it), have case-studies and portfolios in a PDF file which you can quickly send to interested prospects, be terrific at cold outreach/cold messaging etc.
The difference between a $350 per month programmer and a $30,000 per month programmer is personal branding.

It also helps if you invest into certification, doing all the necessary exams...
It also helps if you pick the programming skills with high demand...
It also helps if you can put Java, Php,c, c#, c++, cobolt and whatever programming language there is on your cv so you can promote yourself as genius...
Then it can also help if you work for the right company... I remember some people working as freelancer in banks (not remote) for many years... Actually they could also just hire someone directly, but instead they hired freelancers for many years and they weren't even the best ones...
In my country it usually helps if you can find a contractor / agency which basicly trades freelance hours... So they have a contract with a bank or other big company and do the recruitment and they get a fee for just that...
