The amount of stupid in this thread is baffling
If you really wish to start mining crypto i would suggest first looking at the altcoin section in Bitcointalk forums. See the new coins that come out and become familiar with how they are launched (announcement, is it a ninja launch, different algos etc).
Once you feel you have some understanding decide how much you wish to invest - for a starter a standard rig should do (that means 4-6 GPUs, preferably something like the 570 for its price/performance ratio) - You may also opt for x11 - Baikal miners etc.
The next step is to look at new coins that launch and be ready to mine as soon as they go live, the key is to find which of the coins have biggest potential of going somewhere and mine those. This might mean holding them for a bit but the ROI is way faster this way than just pointing at a ETH pool - thats what "tools" do and then complain how they make no money and mining doesnt work, dont be a pleb.
Once you really start to understand how things work in crypto you can easily make good money, its not hard as crypto investors are willing to take chances and theres constant pumps going around, so even if your bag doesnt go on sale at start you may still be able to drop it for x10 or more.
Note: The reason i prefer GPUs is that they allow to mine different algos (Asic like the bikal miner allows you to only mine x11). And GPUs can later be sold for a % in the aftermarket.
