How much bandwidth do i need?

Hi everyone, i am planning of starting a movie streaming website but i can't seem to find out how much bandwidth do i need so that i can take the appropriate hosting plan. I am considering taking a shared hosting or vps. Problem is how much bandwidth would i be needing for a start up website.

I feel that 50gb/100gb etc are less? Please do advise me, thanks

p.s: Also since i will only be using/embedding links and not uploading videos, will i still use up bandwidth compared to uploading videos? thanks

Using shared hosting to host and do movie streaming is not a good idea, they will suspend you. It will uses a lot of resources. Forget web shared hosting. If you want to do this use VPS.

Bandwidth? It depends, you will store the movie on your hosting or you will use 3rd service (openload, streamango) to do it? Bandwidth for 3rd service, you don't need so much. You can use cloudflare to save bandwidth.

If you only be embedding, bandwidth shouln't be a problem. 2TB or 10TB is enough.

Check netengi.com, privatelayer, 2x4.ru, undergroundprivate, novogara, 2x4.ru they ignore DMCA.

Short answer, no.

If you are using third-party servers to host your videos you won't have a problem using a shared web hosting. You just need to consider the number of visitors processed at the same time, the time it takes to process each one (time it takes to load a page) and consider the resources used by each visitor.

A shared web hosting service with 100 GB of bandwidth? These are still sold? Get unlimited instead or at least 500 GB.

If you are hosting on a 3rd party site (think embedding a youtube video) you will be fine and will not consume much resources.

If you are hosting the videos on your site then you will definitely want or need a VPS/Dedicated Server will HIGH Bandwidth limits.

I would recommend avoiding "unlimited bandwidth" hosting providers as many times unlimited does not truly mean unlimited.

Yes, regarding unlimited bandwidth make sure you read the terms or ask about it before buying.

Seems to be the same question just a few weeks ago. I would recommend a VPS, Shared hosting plan you will just go over your resource limits and have the account shut down.
 
check out digital ocean or vultr, both are really good, for true unlimited (100mbt/s only though) bandwidth you can try OVH.
 
I would actually start with a shared hosting plan at a host you can easily upgrade with. That will save you money while you ramp your traffic up.
 
Above me they already give you good advice. Just one thing from me, don't forget to use offshore or DMCA ignore web hosting. Since you will get a lot of (maybe) complaint about copyright
 
you can start with shared hosting & then upgrade to a vps or dedicated server
also read the host TOS & T&C as they might block your service
 
thank you everyone for all the advice, i really appreciate it. I will update how it goes for me in the near future. For now, i have got myself a vps hosting offshore with dmca ignore. And a domain ending with .eu (those .it , .io etc were more expensive ;) )
