How much ads to put up?

Every time I setup a new site I put up AdSense ads, Infolinks in text ads, ****** shortened URL intermissions, etc. On my download sites I also sometimes have content lockers on. I feel bad and feel like I'm degrading the sites and forums I make by having all this but it's kinda like a system to me. Put up ads across all my sites and bank. I'm wondering if I might be more successful keeping my sites and forums ad-free for a little while.
