How may times should i repeat my keywords

Hello all, i have a question winch is how many times should i repeat the keyword in the same article is 3-5 times in a 500 words ok ? and should i use "tags" of the same keyword or is it bad for SEO ?
thanks

IMO, you would want to look at the top 10 or 20 results and note the number of words and keyword density for each of those pages. That would give you a fairly good idea of what's working in your niche. You will know what's safe, what would be risky and what could be ineffective.

Aiming for a random number like 1% or 2% or even 5% might be asking for trouble, or might not work as well as it otherwise would.

Obviously we're just isolating one on-page factor here. I'm not saying they'll rank just because they've copied the others' %'s. You're right about the off-page SEO, namely links.

sometimes, I wish I was wrong. that would make ranking easier. but it aint.

Do remember that most SEO plugins only calculate keyword density in the post content, not the overall page.

So if you have breadcrumbs, menu links, or "recent posts" widget, you may want to take note if those have your keywords too as it would inflate your keyword density very easily. You can always counter them easily by browsing the plugins section. For instance, "Recent Post - Extended" has a feature that excludes the current post, thereby reducing the keyword's density.

Image alt tags may or may not play a role too.

dont mix stuff here.
they dont "inflate", they DILUTE keyword relevancy.. thats the main problem.

so get rid of as much ON THE PAGE not-needed crap and popping menues as possible.

well.. you can always try ro rank "no volume no competition keywords" and post "i ranked cyz on #1"...

the whole keyword density thing is a stupid myth
do you really think that if I have a keyword written 8 times and some douche has it 9 times that said douche's content is somehow more relevant? nope doesn't work that way

Wrong and wrong and wrong and wrong.

Here is a guide made by @phpbuilt about KW densities. Read it 20 times and apply it. It's pure gold - https://www.sendspace.com/file/3nbwpq

thanks a lot for this guide
i just read this part -

If it isn't broke, don't fix it. If you have a money site that is
profitable, don't play around with the keyword density
(except on pages that aren't ranking). Don't tweak a highly
profitable page ranking #5, thinking your tweaks might
make it rank #1. Instead, get it more quality links.

do you agree with it?

i have crappy 1 page LP ranking in top30 without any content, kw just in the title and i was almost going to add some 300 words article at the bottom

Use keywords naturally. Do not use again and again in the same paragraph. Here density is not a big issue, if you can maintain perfect density then it will be helpful. But unhealthy practice is really a bad thing. Use keywords in the most important points such as first and last paragraph, all the heading tags and more.

Quality Original Content, Put key in H1 (header Title) in Content and last word of content.
I don't know if as a newbie i can put link here but i will try to show you example.
Sorry but moderator won't let me show URL

content of 500 words you could put 5 times without fear of the google sandbox.
but you only need 3
1/ In header
2/ In content
3/ Last word in content
this has always got my site into top 3 position SERPS
hope this helps Keep it simple, when i first stated seo i set up a site just to test what works, ans how many keywords add up to spam, but the truth is google just loves quality original Content using 1 2 3 above i have ranked on page one in one day
Hope this helps and goog luck to you

So where can you reference these claims to, where is your research ?

These are pretty bold claims; using 1 2 3 above i have ranked on page one in one day

OP

You're best if you're writing the content yourself to write it naturally, for the read and not just for the search engines.
You can then run it through a checker to see what the optimisation is like.

Yoast etc are fine, but not the be all and end all.

3-5 times for 500 words is ok, but mind that the text should not look spammy and stuffed with keywords.
Use synonyms of your keywords, it's very much appreciated by Google.

What if you have different words that are above 3-4% but you don't care to rank for those (say your brand or a generic word like hair)? Say you're targeting a more specific search and that comes in around 1-2%?
