How many words to write

I recently started a website where I write viral things (ex a post . 30 reasons why you don't leave kids alone.)

Most of the posts on my website are short.

I have heard that google bans these sites with tiny content or content thick as they call.

Could you please tell me how should I deal with this?

Rule of thumb. More content = more Google interest. Remember to write it for people. If you'll have an interesting content for visitors, it'll mean that it is interesting also for Google

That isn't true. Long content = good for Google. Nobody wants to read a lot of information, if they are looking for a product or download. If they just looking for information, they just want the information. Nothing else.
 
Can somebody else give me some advice because the first 2 did that just for having more posts on forums, not for helpin me.
 
Content for an article should contain 300+ words. It can be long up to 2000+ words.

Google point of view & For SEO purpose, it should be 300 - 500 words long to get the high ranking.If too short, it would not even be tracked by the search engine.

IMO the length of a blog article really depends on two things 1.what you have to say 2. how interesting it is.

That length then depends on your audience as well. Are they reading on smartphones, If that is the case, then you probably shouldn’t go over two screens worth of text, and it better be interesting!:)

If your article is too long for online, you can try splitting it into multiple articles.
 
It is nich dependent,, you cannot have lengthy content for all types of pages. The idea is to make your page worth to be the number 1 resource for your keyword whether it takes 500 words or 5000 words. You dont just focus upon article length, but also quality giving people real value. No repetitive stuff just to reach your target length.

Minimum 300 words and in average 700 words will be best. I did the same mistake like your making article short and i am trying to improve it.
 
Just write minimum 500 words articles, and articles must be interested so the visitors can stay for some time on your time. this will increase your website health in google eyes.
 
Have at least 500 words for contents you want to rank high in search engines. The more content you write, the more chance to integrate your target keywords.
 
If that was true then no tumblr blog would rank since more of this blogs are pictures and videos, most don't even have more than a sentence per post, in my way of seeing it the important thing is to build content and don't worry about quantity of text, just make sure that all posts don't have the same amount of words and you will be fine.
 
An article should contain more than 300 words. It is more than obvious that longer posts will generate more traffic - there are more words to catch search engines' attention.
Keyword positioning is important for the well-written article.

That's a good number to start with. The more words you have, the more words a search engine will pick up.
 
There was a case study a while back which showed a correlation between top rankings and word count. #1 being closer to 1800 I think it was. Of course there's more to it than just that. Longer articles (assuming good quality) are more likely to be shared which means more social signals/links etc...

I believe it also depends on niches. Some SERPS don't have much text because the search doesn't require it. I have some pages ranking at a few thousand words and others at closer to 300. Might be worth having a look at your competitors and see what they're doing.
 
IMO, the length of the articles depends on the length of the articles in the top 10 results.

If the top 10 is filled with highly informative, 2000+ word articles then you would want to have a 3000+ word article.

If the top 10 for a phrase has no article more than 1000 words, you would want to aim for 1500 to 2000+ words.
 
The general advice is 300+ words, but as it has been said, it is niche dependent, and in fact it depends more on the query than the niche itself.

So, how can you know how much words you need for your queries/niche? Just take the first 10 results in the SERPs, and look at the average length of their best articles, and at least match their length and quality, with a better linking.

More importantly, make sure you use the good lexical field, 10000+ nonsense words is far worse than a 250 words wisely chosen.
 
It's not about the word count. It's about what's best for the topic. Writing and keeping readers interest is an art, and it's best left to professionals when you don't have a clue as to how to go about it.
 
Look at all these SEO guru wannabes telling people "more words = more love from Google" and the 500 words article rule.

The key is to write interesting articles so that your site gets picked up from other sites/blogs and you get free backlink from them.
