How many posts can WP handle?

I have a shared hosting account. of course not the most ideal hosting for this solution.

But lets say i have about 5K posts in WP. Is it really managable?

How about 10k? 40k? I'm expecting to reach about 40K eventually, but is it really manageable ?

My medical site has a lot of data on it, currently i have about 1K posts and its kinda slow.

Its depends on your hosting, WP can handle any number of posts. I have WP site on shared hosting with 30k+ posts. Works fine for me.
