It all depends on the word count of the article. If your article is 500-600 words you can use your primary keyword 3 to 4 times, don't overstuff it rather use LSI keywords along it to make it look natural. To take an better idea, always analyze your competitor.

There is no strict rule for the use of keywords.
But it is wise to use 1 main target keyword for 500 word article.
If the article length increases, then you can use 3 to 5 keywords ( or its clear cut variations)
