Hi

Em newbie and just wanted to know
How many keywords should be max in metatag

Like i have kept 25-30 keywords per page?

is that fine?

Thanks!

If you are talking about the meta name="keywords" on your site you can leave it out all together according to "AArron Walter" publish SEO Guru. It is out dates and Spiders no longer use it.

25-30 words are fine i know 5%-7% keyword in over all page are fine more than that indicate keyword stuffing !

Google does use the meta keyword tag along with other content on your page to help determine what ads to show on an adsense site. If your using adsense then you probably don't want to use too many keywords in the tag because you want to really target the adsense ads to the specific niche your traffic is targeted for.

If you aren't using adsense then it doesn't really matter. You can still use it if you want, it won't hurt anything and possibly might help for other factors like keyword density for the whole page and things like that. Just throw a few of your most relevant keywords you're targeting for into the tag and then move on to more important factors.

Well as long as you don't keyword stuff you can help googlebot with using this meta tag. This means you could be using 3-5 keywords per page tops. I had a case study of using 4 keywords on a new website without having the keywords in the content (some 1% kw density) and other keyword that wasn't in the meta for 4% density. At the end, first I appeared in top100 for meta keywords, after that for content keyword (tho the content keyword appeared higher in serps)
