How many forum posting per forum is effective?

We have a team of 10 doing around 100 forum postings per resource in various forms. We are getting backlinks as expected. But wondering if we need to stop forum postings after 100-150 forum postings per forum. Because... when we were talking to an experienced SEO leader other day he explained that google might give you maximum 3 backlinks per forum. So it really does not matter if you have 100 forum postings or 500 forum postings. Your backlinks will not increase from 3 in google.

Is this true? If yes we are wasting our resources by posting more than 500 posts? Experts please advise..

I only leave 2 backlinks on each domain. I am not 100% sure how effective more than 2 backlinks to a site on the same domain is but I do this to diversify the number of linking domains. Are these forums relevant to your niche? If so then you are trying to be an authoritative hub in your industry so there is nothing bad about that and it is actually a good thing you are doing this. But I would diversify you link sources further.
