How Many Decades Has Ai Been Around?

wasn't the term AI coined in the 1920's or even 1800s by someone in a book somewhere. As for the maths part. I assume from when we had the first prompt on a screen! lol I bet there was one person that saw we would be talking to computers at some point via a prompt, and started the groundwork.

I think we don't have AI at all still. Just shitloads of IFs and ELSE in a vaaast database of information.

A
What do you think was the beginning?

And how many years do you think this current ai tech was available before you got access? For this second question, I would guess about 25-30 years ago.

As of 2026, AI has been actively researched and developed for roughly (70 years), spanning seven decades I think.....

Depends on where you draw the line. As a concept, AI research started in the 1950s with Alan Turing and early neural network theory. As something practically useful, the 2010s with deep learning. As something the average person could actually use, basically 2022 onwards with ChatGPT going mainstream.
So anywhere from 70 years to 3 years depending on definition.

I don't know what they had in the past, but I know that right now we don't have an AI, just LLMs and parrots repeating biased stuff depending on their owner interests

AI been around since like 1950s so thats about 7 decades now. Stuff like neural nets existed long ago but was weak.

what we see now got real maybe last 10 to 15 years.

Well by December 2025 $25 trillion in Blackrock assets are managed by Aladdin... that's more than the GDP of the US

An AI system that BlackRock started building in 1988 on a single computer

Been running for 40 yuears and most people have never heard about it.
