How many articles should I have up on a new site?

I have always thought that starting with the basic pages (About us, Contact, Etc.) and having at least 2 or 3 money articles for time being was fine.

However I have seen multiple people state that you need 20 pages ready for your new site.

So how many money pages/articles should I have up on a new site? Thanks! :)

Go for at least 10k words.
e.g. 10x 1k articles or 20x 500words articles.
just my 2 cents, others may have other suggestions.
 
Depends on your goal. If it's a niche website, an about page, contact page and a money, HQ article for 4-5K words might be a good start. 1 article of 4000 words is better than 10 articles at 400 words imho.
 
When I launch a new site, I usually have a minimum of 25 articles(no word count cares).
I put 5 on the site immediately, then over the next 4weeks, I drop 5 articles a week. Gives me time to work up more content.
 
The more articles you put on your site straight away, the sooner they will start to age, which is a significant SEO factor. Keep that in mind. :)
 
I always start with 500 articles (spun and distributed in 5 years time frame), and schedule another 200 articles for the next 2 years. Although it may not be good for English sites, but when you spin and auto convert that content to another local language - it works wonder!
 
Use 500+ words articles use 3 - 4 post per page .
 
The more content - the more visitors. However, this does not mean that a single-page site will not be effective. Everything depends on the goals and competitiveness in a particular niche.
 
It depends. These days behavioral signals are extremely important. If your site gets lots of buzz on social media, it'll get a kickstart with just one article or a single page site. A lot of the old school stuff formula (e.g. at least 100 500 word articles) doesn't cut it any more.
 
8-10 is good enough to start with, and potentially adding up posts while on the run. But don't publish articles too quickly and try to avoid thin content. What really matters is the quality that your are publishing.
