Since the current market looks bearish right now and we are in situation where breakout can happen in any direction, do you hodl to bottom or exit and hope to buy at lower price or just quit the market altogether?

My inital plan was to hodl for 1 year or 2x whichever is earlier but now it seems i might need to hodl a couple more years.

As "normal members of society" starting to go back outside, COVID now beginning to fade away, I see BTC dropping very low. It was a fun project for them, I guess, but the fad will start to become more of a niche topic again as the people interested in computers/crypto keep at it without the general public being on board.

To 0? Probably not though.

You two need to lay off the crack :)

Bitcoin isn't going up because people are inside and have nothing better to do. If you'd been in one of the non-covid bull runs where the world was "normal" but the price rose faster than it even is now, you'd see that clearly.

It's also not going to zero, no matter how many gazillions of times people say it, and the important thing is having a good understanding of the fundamental reasons Bitcoin (and cryptocurrencies by proxy) have value, and why that means that it's not only not going to zero, but it's more than likely going to $200k - $300k within the next 6 months.

Just buy some crypto, hold it calmly until the end of the year, sell it for a nice profit and wait 12 months to reenter the next bull run.

Sorry man it's just so easy to get with crypto... And you know how it is once you pop- you can't stop.

I dont mean zero as in literally zero. Even 5k is as good as zero. I see the bottom for this cycle at 16k and the new ATH to come around 2022-23. Would be suprised to see ATH in this year. Hope am proven wrong.

Also I don't own any Bitcoin

So I'll be doing it for the fun mostly. And beer.

Understand mate. I would just say not to absorb the market energy too much at any point in time.

If the market feels gloomy and weak, don't let that colour your thinking because the state of the market and its vibe is intentional. Same with people inevitably making it look like crypto is going to imminently replace fiat, or other tomfoolery, later this year, and shit like news articles saying "Is Bitcoin going to break $1,000,000 this month?" or "Top Wall Street Experts say they were wrong about Bitcoin, are we about the see its price quadruple?". Designed to sway the plebs and make them lose money, nothing more.

If you think its going to $5k, you don't buy at a price that is sat at the bottom of a 50% crash point (aka now). Then they raise the price and news starts coming out saying that "this could be the strongest bull market yet" or whatever, then you fomo back in 2 months later for 4 times the price you could have had now.

Just remember that barring some serious event (not like a 50th China crypto ban or Musk being a loudmouthed cocksucker.. something like the USD collapsing), but barring something like that, the halving cycle rules.. 2.5years off, 1.5 years on.. news, celebrities, and the rest of the bs won't change that, but if it doesn't seem like its totally unpredictable then they can't make money can they.

This is non starter for me. Bitcoin ain't going down to zero. That just ain't gonna happen. It's not Wallstreet stock especially penny stock.
Here's the thing though.
You gotta think bitcoin like a payment gateway instead of thinking it like a stock.
So think of ways of earning bitcoin.
Millions of people are earning bitcoin, are you too?
As far as paper money is concern, buy gold. Best investment.

I believe in cryptocurrencies (the real ones)
so i'll still hold

Bitcoin and blockchains existed before the pandemic. No point relating the two.

I think that's the best reply around here. I believe so too that bitcoin will rise to at least 150k.

Yeah $150,000 is a reasonable bet imo.. and I think by the time it gets there the hype will bump it higher. Let's see.

Last year, when I was not new to crypto but surely new in crypto investments, I decided to put 5k into some coins, BTC included.

I was lucky enough to jump (by pure chance) on a bull run and these 5k turned into 20k in a year with no effort.
When I reckoned, I felt very stupid.
While it was true I made 300% profit, I could have lost everything given my posture.

So I decided to take these 15k profit and "invest" it, this time with more attention.

So yes, I am ready to see it go to nothing, as I have secured my initial investment.
I am still convinced crypto is here to stay, regardless of suspected backdoors, China bans (yeah... yeah...), Elon's tweets, fuds and everything, because money is money and money is what runs the world, but if it goes to virtually zero I was extra lucky to be put in the position to be losing nothing.

I am not yet convinced the bull run is over. There was never a time in history of crypto when bull run is nearing end and xrp didn't go crazy high. 100x to 1000x
so am planning to gamble a lil bag on xrp, hoping for 100x returns wish me luck. plan to sell 50 percent at 7-13 usd.
