Based on what I've heard so far, I believe no one knows the exact word count, but as someone here said, the content is what matters.
Of course, you are not going to write 257 words, that would be too short. If I have to pick a number, I would say that for my website I would write at least 500 words, but if there's a lot to write about, go for 2000, why not, as long as you're not writing 'filler' text.

A blog post should contain at least 300 words to rank well in the search engines. But long posts (1000 words or more) will rank more easily than short posts and make sure it is high quality
