Since my traffic dropped from 50-100 uniques a day to 1 (today) I am assuming I am about to spend some time in the sandbox...yay. What I am thinking of doing from this point is continuing to add content regularly and try and build a some decent .edu links (white hat methods). First off, does that seem like a good idea? Secondly, what is the longest period you've had a site sandboxed? Thirdly, is this post in the right forum

I've been in there for like more than 3 months before, also been in there for one week or so before! IT varies

I've heard the niche can be important in terms of how long you get penalised, can anyone confirm? Doing quick research and certain forums are talking about 10 months as a standard. I swear the longest I've heard from anyone here is 8 months.

I've been penalized for almost 6 months when the first Panda rolled out.

But keep adding links and update your site with original content - the longer the better. Also try to find someone who will social bookmark it for you preferably by hand. And don't stop working it will get back up!

Good luck

I think around 3-2 months with a barely random affiliate site. After noticing this total drop I searched for a sandbox guide, probably from this forum and followed the steps. Was out of the sandbox after making some changes with the site.

about 2 months

I continued posting unique content and doing quality backlinks and eventually came out
