How long for a backlink from a major site to become active so I can begin to see traffic from it? Is there anyway to increase the speed that this will happen?

Build a web 2.0 to that, post that article on Twitter Facebook for fast indexing in Google.

Just dont build those shity web 2.0 and all those useless links. If its a good article, give few good links from other genuine blogs. Plus there is no fix time, keep building good links.

There is no estimated time durations to see the traffic raise and it depends up on the quality of the links.

A tip, if you are using the free ahrefs webmaster, when it does show up, you will be able to see how much traffic this backlink provides you. You should note your expectation number and compare your reality number when you get it. You might be surprised.

It depends on the policy or situation of the site. However, your link can be for a minimum of one year, two years, three years, or a lifetime.

As for traffic, it depends on the website's traffic, the total number of visitors visiting the source website, and how well your article is visible or ranked on Google. So, we cannot predict exactly. But whichever platform you choose, you'll need to add some extra functionality, like social media engagement. Thus helping to increase organic and referral traffic to your website.

Most organic links start to kick in within a couple of weeks
Totally depends on the stats of the domain

Typically ranging from a few hours to a few days for search engines to index it. To speed up this process, focus on obtaining backlinks from authoritative and frequently crawled websites and promoting the link through social media and relevant platforms.
