How long does Google Crawling take?

I recently started a new site and have sent quite a few backlinks to it (including from a number of web 2.0s that I manually created with unique content), but when I check ahrefs or WMT I only see a total of ten referring domains, despite the fact I've sent backlinks to a number of sites over the past week and a half or so. Is it just that Google takes a while to crawl pages depending on popularity (I notice that one backlink i managed to post on an alexa rank 100k site was counted within a day), or is there something else?

Google can crawl your site on demand via webmaster tools .

The site that is backlinking to you must get crawled by google in order to be visible on sites like ahrefs . keep in mind that ahrefs and similars' database are not refreshed that often though.

It depends on your website. For a new page, it's about 2-3 days (in my experience).

Google Crawls my site like instantly when I ask them too via Webmaster tools, but it's true that it takes 2-3 days to be indexed in their search engine.

Thanks! I was wondering more about the other sites - the sites I am building backlinks on. I was wondering if they needed to be crawled to to show up in GWT etc and, if so, around how long might that take

If your links are indexed, Google knows about them, whether they appear in GWT or not.
