For example, I am just finishing 3000 words of technical blog posts and about to go to bed by 3 AM and wake up at 8 AM to do a 3000 word essay tomorrow, before I start studying for 5 exams. In a busy schedule like this, I don't think you can stay productive and focused without taking breaks, so I'm just wondering what you folks do. I imagine those of you that work in an office probably leave the office for lunch or for a coffee.

I'm a vegan and this contributes to my active lifestyle of health and wealth! Never would I eat an animal to gain strength since I find my enter strength through meditation. You need to meditate now before your brain shuts down.

I normally take 10 minute break every hour.

It depends on the work I'm doing that day. For important work where it's imperative that I finish it as soon as possible (like getting a new website completely transferred to a new host), I only take a break if it's absolutely necessary (to eat or sleep, for example). If I have multiple SEO clients, I'll take 30 minute breaks in-between client websites for the day (so every couple of hours) before I go back to working on my own content. Sometimes, I also may read and respond to threads on BHW while I'm "working" (waiting for client's to email me back about something I need).

i work at a standing desk, i go for a short walk every 2-3 hours around the office, if legs are really tired then i sit for 5mins

I don't have a fixed scheduled. I take breaks whenever I feel tired or stressed.

I take a 10 Min fag (cigarette) break every hour. I sit in front of my computer for 12-18 hours p/d.
I have never been so unhealthy or inactive in my life.
Starting to prepare my plans and goals for 2015 and I intend to get back into training and improve my fitness and health as one of my priorities.

How you earn money ? Sites or SEO ? :)

i'm not sitting, i'm laying down on my bed, probably it's even more unhealthy, but i take long walks almost every day
i don't take scheduled breaks, when i feel it's enough or get bored, i just leave it

Most of the time I am sitting, prefer to work at the late hours, taking break per every hour.

The Pomodoro technique ! Works as advertised. You work 25 minutes you take a break for 5 minutes. After a couple of hours, take a longer break.

Depend on Work Load. I take 1 Hour Break after every 2-3 Hour working. Gym 4 Times a Week. No Drinking Or Smoking.
But if I am Starting some New project, I work for non-stop for 10-Hours to 15-hours and Only Coffee is my Friend at that time.

Wake up at 4 AM
30 minutes work out at 8 AM
Take 10 minutes break every 90 minutes
30 minutes work out at 6 PM
Sleep at 10 PM

I work on 3 projects and work on learning a new programming language on any given day - 3 hours per project

That schedule rocks for me , I am having the most productive year of my life and most importantly , i feel happy and healthy.

I am a Gay Cam Model!

Hence the 'fag' every ten minutes I presume. ;)

But yeah, Flux on PC does wonders to eyes, and a 5-10 minute break every hour. If it's a rush job, then a break whenever I feel like needing one, so might be once or twice a day only (not healthy, but has to be done).

If anyone is interested, I use a program called eye leo - http://eyeleo.com
which someone else here originally recommended to me.
You can set it to display a prompt every 10 minutes to look away from the screen, and then every hour it totally locks the screen for 10 minutes forcing you to take a break.

If I didnt use that I would just stair at the computer all day and night:-)

I sit 10-12hrs/day. I work maybe 4hrs/week. No kidding.

I started doing a 4 mile walk almost every morning, I work very well in the morning then when productivity starts slowing down I do the walk

now it seems like I am productive in the morning and afternoon

whereas I used to do a lot of work in the morning , and then kind of slack off

I can work like a Trojan if necessary, but I get away with it by rigidly taking 15 min in every hour,

Productivity starts to drop off about the 45 mins hence the breaks, and I do anything but work during the break.
