How long do built links take to have an effect?

Hi all,

We have built around 100 followed links into a deep page from content. These include high quality links such as thesun.co.uk and mentalfloss.com etc. We got the first links mid-december. Other competitors do not have any quality links into their equivalent pages and the ones that do are spam/adult links etc.

We were previously ranking 4 for a highly competitive term for this page, briefly moved up to 2-3 but have now dropped to 5 almost exactly a month after we started to gain links.

Is this what you would expect to see? and how long would you expect it to take for the rankings to settle?

You have to wait a couple of months more before finalizing the next move. Google dancing will happen when your backlinks start to get index.

Our only other slight concern is the anchor text is all natural brand or the url of the content. Now we have decent link volume should we focus on trying to get exact match anchor text? Our competitors ahve very high levels of exact match anchor text due to the very low quality links they are getting.

Hmm, suppose it depends on the what sites that you placed backlinks. If it's reputable, high quality, you would get indexed within several days. Otherwise, it would take months.

Keyword - 20%
LSI - 20%
barnd - 20%
URL - 20%
Generic - 20%

IMO this will be proper anchor text diversity to avoid Over optimization.

Have you ever heard about guestographics technique? You may give it a try.

You never know will it work and when, that's the truth.

Thanks we will probably have a look at manipulating this a bit more so it isnt so brand/URL focused.

As the sites are high quality majority are indexed so hopefully we will see results soon.
