If you give people money they will just blow it and not use it for something useful, i learned that with the first few people i decided to help out with money.
If people choose to waste given money on things they don't really need, then that is their decision, but at least I know I gave them something that they couldn't provide for themselves.
Maybe the drugs they buy will help them for for live just 1 more day, and that extra day will be the day they decide to change how they live for good. People always think giving homeless people money when they will spend it on drugs is a horrible thing to do. But I don't always feel that way.
If you have a terminally ill patient, do you just pull the plug? Or do you pump them full of morphine and other drugs to keep them alive just for a day longer to see if things will turn around miraculously?
Giving to charity is great, but Breast Cancer charities are probably the lowest priority charity on the list at this point in time. They have very little public disclosure about exactly where the money is being spent, and how much money they have vs. how much money they want vs. how much money they need. It has become very fashionable to promote Breast Cancer Research charities by celebrities etc, and I am sure they have more money then they know what to do with.
Recently the UFC contacted the heads of the some of the largest Breast Cancer Awareness associations to see if they could do an event dedicated to helping raise money + awareness, and they got turned down and the charity said they don't want to be associated with the UFC. Now, this isn't dirty money, the UFC is an officially sanctioned sports company. Why would they turn down money + free advertising to over 3 million people? Its WAY to political. Charity is just supposed to be about "TAKE MY MONEY AND DO SOMETHING GOOD!"
