Try making OTHER people happy and you will soon lose your blues.
I agree with this.
If you have extra money, share it with people who need it. (But be reasonable, don't make them 100% dependent on you. Make sure they know its just to help them out and you won't be able to do it forever)
If you have extra time, find a friend who needs some help cleaning or moving or watching their kids to give them a night "off". Usually you can score some free food if you help them so if you are STARVING this is a good place for you.
If you don't have anything extra, just wish good things for everyone, and focus on getting your finances and time back on track. Live as cheap as you can, don't buy new clothes unless they are for a new job.
If you don't have kids yet, and you aren't financially secure 100%, please don't have any yet. Spend time babysitting and taking care of other peoples kids. Buy them diapers and food and formula for a few months and see if you still want to go there.
If you do have kids, don't be afraid to ask for help from people who are in a place to help you. If they decline, don't press the matter. There might be something stopping them from helping you that you don't know about. Just find someone else and ask casually for a bit of help. As originally mentioned, some people can donate time, some people can donate money. If you ask me to watch your kids, I will just say no. If you ask me for help, I will offer to pay for a babysitter. You get the same thing, just in a way that is easier for me.
If you are lonely, try to find somewhere you can volunteer. People LOVE volunteers. The people you meet will be great people in general.
If you are heart broken, go for a walk outside and think about all the people in Africa etc who are starving to death or sick with disease, and how lucky you are to be alive in this world. Play lots of video games to pass the time on hard days. (Geared towards guys) Tell yourself that every girl who you see smiling wants you. Go to a restaurant or get a haircut and smile shyly at the person serving you etc. Tip a bit higher than normal and she will smile back at you. Use that. Cry until you fall asleep. Stay away from alcohol. Treat yourself to special meals, a new pair of jeans etc.
If you really feel like life just sucks and no matter how hard you work, and how much money you save, you get nowhere in life, try to move in with someone else to save money. Grab a pen and paper and write a plan for steps where you want to be, and how you can get there. If you have trouble completing one of those steps, ask for help BEFORE you start to slide backwards. Be prepared to give up EVERYTHING you own except the clothes on your back. Sometimes you need a fresh start, completely fresh.
If you have a family and you aren't happy or not providing for them properly, first make sure that you aren't wasting money on frivolous things. If you feel like a failure because your daughter has last years iphone and not this year, or hasn't got a new purse in 3 months, then you need to set more ground rules and start living within your means. If your family is well fed, has a roof over their head, can get to and from school, has clean clothes, and isn't abused, you are doing a GREAT FANTASTIC job. If you have trouble providing any of those things, you need to seek government aid. There is a lot of assistance out there for people in need, don't be afraid to ask for it. Maybe you need to move into a smaller place. Maybe your kids need to go live with someone else for a few months while you get things sorted out. It can't hurt to ask someone who may be able to do that for you.
I really hope some people can get some little tips to realize their lives aren't so bad. I have had diseases which brought me to 100 pounds (5'9" tall) in the "prime of my life" (17 to 19), been dumped by girlfriends, getting divorced right now, broken limbs, went from $6,000 cash in bank to 0 with no job and no possessions within 3 months due to trying to help people who spent it all on alcohol, I have had to beg my mom to let me move back in, I have had to call my mom at 1am and ask her to go pick up my ex-wife from the bus station after her new boyfriend dumped her (that was awkward), I have worked 1.5 years in a Customer Service Call Center for near minimum wage where people swear and yell at me constantly on the phone. I have been up and down more times than a pogo stick.
