At times, you do not need better SEO, what you might be lacking is better CRO. I have this new amazon affiliate site. It is not getting so much clicks. Maybe 12 in a day. From that I was getting one, two or no sales at all. Then I thought about working on CRO and improved my call to actions such that they are more conspicuous. Rather than using plain text, I used colorful buttons.
-- Added an about me section on the side bar widget with the face of one of the pseudo authors.
--Went through the web copy and made it more appealing to the reader. Before it sounded like some professors writing. Now it is more conversational.
--Added amazon native shopping ads on the side bar.
--Changed the text on the call to actions. Before, I used 'BUY FROM AMAZON' and then changed that to 'CHECK LOWEST PRICE ON AMAZON'
--Added some comparison tables with call to actions above the fold of each product page.
After doing this, I find that I am able to make 6 sales per day.
Well, I will still continue doing SEO to improve the traffic but my point is that simple CRO tactics are game-changers and will motivate you to improve the traffic even more.
I have not done any A/B testing on all those things I have changed and that is a failure on my part, but hey, improvements from 2 to 6 sales is something, right?
So, what CRO tactics are you using and they are good game-changers?
