One of my competitor has his site on page #1 for almost all the keywords related to the niche. His site has only 4 backlinks and he is ranking on page #1?

How is this possible?
Has this happened to you?

PLS help me.

He may have 301'ed links from his old site which is quite common, or he could have 10k in pages lol.

The more pages a site has the better it is for rankimg?

Lol get this one all the time. There used to be an ewhoring forum on here which I was a big player in and when they deleted it, I lost all my posts and thanks etc. I believe u get 4 billion thanks when ur in negative thanks, some sort of bug or gesture I dunno. I had 5 stars as well. Only just starting to get back to a fifth of my post count

Google loves sites with more quality unique content. It will boost your sites authority.

That's a small bug

The more pages a site has, theoretically that is more links it has to the other pages of his site. So, it's kind of like having more backlinks I would imagine? Plus the evidence of tons of content.

I got a site to page one once by simply adding in an ecommerce plugin which generated thousands of php pages of products I didn't even stock. Google indexed thousands of these pages and my SERPS increased dramatically. This was a few years ago, so it's probably not given as much weight these days.
