How is this possible - site outranks without backlinks

Possibly it has backlinks from sites (I guess PBNs) that blocks the crawler of the SEO tools using htaccess method or similar.
 
Couple of scenarios possible:

1.Major backlink crawlers are blocked on the PBN Network that the site owner is using.In that case you can use some less known backlink crawlers such as Rank Signal or Linkody.

2.(Less probable )but the site might be using highly optimized siloed structure.Although this wont push the site to very high rankings but still can be a major differentiator.
 
I was looking around for possibility of hidden PBN but can not find any and at the same time I can not see any special structure on that site. Looks very strange

I am not sure about any way you could trace it but yes, if it has naked URL as anchor text, searching "domain.com" (yes,with quotes) in Big G will reveal those sites with naked anchor backlinks considering domain.com is the website we're talking about.
 
Erm I don't know if you guys are joking or something but the site has back links pointing to the root domain, it's ranking because of the authority those backlinks have.

You don't need backlinks pointing to inner pages if your root domain already has enough authority to rank them.

Never checked the backlinks neither of that URL nor root domain. i assumed OP already checked it and he meant that the root domain or the page neither have any backlink. So, you're absolutely correct if the root domain has backlinks, it will definitely distribute authority into its inner URLs.
 
Yes there some links to root domain i knew that, what i notice is that ahrefs showing dr30 of that domain and it perform better than domains with dr50, check keyword explorer with ahrefs and it looks very strange like all spots and DR over 50 and this one out rank them with 30, that is why i said no links to inner pages because from Ahrefs this domain doesnt have enough power to perform better than others

Why do people take ahrefs and majestic stats so serious? It's not goolges stats.

I've seen many domains carry a huge amount of weight with minor links showing on ahrefs and majestic.

What would be your suggestion to uncover that weight ? Because its looks to me that this site use some loop holes in algorithm to rank that high, could be some sneaky 301s or semantic content optimization

There's no way exactly to tell a weight of a link, just concentrate on your own site and rank it, people tend to get hooked up on analysing a potential competitors sites' profile and they sit there starring at "what the hell is this, how is he ranking" when you could be spending that time ranking your own site.
 
It depends on the authority of their domain, quality of the content and relevancy to the search term. The page might have ton of links and they are blocking spiders that's why it might appear to be ranking for a competitive keywords without links.
 
This site is not even on the first page with "4 door mustang"
