So I saw this item and I'm just confused. It sells for $1.99 Free economy shipping from NJ. It's the cheapest shipping option you can even get $2.61 on ebay? They're making probably $1.70 after fees, lets say, plus product cost and shipping. Do they even profit?

what site sir can help me go to site?

It's not shipping from NJ, it's shipping from China. It costs 70 cents to ship something from china post to US.

It's coming from China, Hong Kong or Vietnam more than likely.

my bad, I forgot to mention I actually bought one. Ordered April 25 arrived today. It shipped through FedEx from Apr-25 KEASBEY, NJ until getting here and delivered by USPS.

Packaging had regular labels, nothing Chinese.

What was the item? If it costs 5c to make, then it might just be doable using a postal ordering service.
UK there's a handful of companies who have postal comparison rats ( think Trivago for shipping ) , maybe the shipping is due to volume?

They might just pump up their ebay profile for more sales or more reputation. Once bought something on ebay for 1.2€ which came with a 2€ shipping label.

OP, some items sold are often "loss leaders" and either have zero or negative profit. They do this to get traffic and sales rolling, and in Amazon it helps your store if you have a really cheap item. I'm not sure how eBay works, but it could be similar where selling a lot of an item helps the whole store's visibility.

It's a USB SD card reader. Found the exact one on Ali-express for $0.88 EA but it might be cheaper elsewhere.

They also have a really high reputation already, 50k rep

Depends on what the item is and the shipping method being used

if its a smaller, thin item then they very likely are sending these out in a stamped envelope (.49 cents + cost of envelope) and no tracking

or if it's a new/small account they may just be taking losses to build feedback

They just made their store and getting traffic and feedback by promoting this maybe.
