How is this guy ranking??

Sadly, I don't think there's any great revelation to be had. There's 6 indexed backlinks from decent domains but there's other spammy links that aren't as obvious but can be found with a bit of effort. The secondary domains have quite a few backlinks to the pages pointing to the primary domain so, without going too far down the rabbit hole, it looks like he's tiered them.

Can't help but think there's an opportunity for someone able to create a tool that can properly reverse-crawl tiered backlinks. Or if it exists, I need to find it as it's a real dog chasing them down.

How about something like similarweb to see where his referral traffic is coming from? Might see some hidden gems there.

thanks for the suggestion, that's actually quite a cool website. didn't have enough data about the website unfortunately though

Yes I agree big time, this guy must be doing something hidden to out rank that page with 2.9k referring domains. I don't get why crawlers don't set their user agents as normal browsers and just rotate IP addresses every few months. Surly that would bust open every hidden PBN?

pm me the url, I'm a coder and I can check if there are some hidden gems in the code

The Genius One :D

It seems like it is tiered well... His tier 1 sites are getting a lot of juice from the tier 2s. The tier 2s are probably spammed with all kinds of BLs.

funny how people ask you the domain and want to rank there own site without help you

don't send the domain to them

What about cloaking ?
Maybe some of the backlinks are hidden to Majestic and others backlinks checker tools.
