I was looking at this site today (good podcast, by the way),
    Code:
    entrepreneuronfire.com
Notice on his home page, he has article excerpts AND that he has a blog page, also with excerpts. How does his designer do this? WP only gives the option in the dashboard to have a static home page or one with most recent posts.

I'd love to find a solution, because it would be so nice to feature content this way.

    Thanks!

The great thing about WP is that you can create custom templates for specific pages and set a specific page as your home page. What you probably want to do is start reading up on page templates, blog feed and excerpts. If you're looking for specific code, let me know.

Yeah, they're definitely using a custom made template. So if I understand correctly, you're just referring to how their homepage lists all the authors, and then they have an additional blog page?

There's a lot of different ways to do that. But some easier ways would be to create a second (duplicate) blog in the blog directory. Or better yet, use categories. Like for example, "podcast authors" could be a category, and "blog" could be category. Then you can just setup your homepage to show the "podcast authors" category, and another page on our menu for the "blog".

There are endless possibilities with Wordpress. The more PHP and WP functions you know, the more you can customize.

You can call blog posts to a wordpress page, you can also get a plugin which calls blog posts to a wordpress page.

Unless you have a reason to separate the databases (very little practical circumstances for this), there really is no good reason to install another wordpress like this.

I've seen many people do this actually. I don't agree with it either, but some people lack the knowledge and end up looking for the easiest possible solution that they understand.

You can try to create page templates and insert some WP Functions for your blog/meta details. Activate that page template on certain pages that you wanted it to show.
