What's wrong with the Bahamas?? That is a vacation paradise, or so I hear. Never been there. I am from usa. Your question was how is it to live in the usa? Well like some people have stated it kinda depneds on what part of the country you live in. We have some very beautiful and clean places, we also have some places with high crime and poverty. You also mention the gov. intrudeing on your privacy. I can understand how u would feel. But many americans do not feel threatend or that their privacy is an issue. Unless they are committing crimes or illegal activity. I think many countries gov. like to have power over the people and to a point intrude on their privacy, but I also think it is done for a countries safety and well being. And yes I have herd all my life that the usa has all the signs ancient rome has that led to their down fall. After WW II the Japan ruler said I don't have to worry about America they will destroy their self. But over all I think we are one of the best countries to live in. I'm not going to get in a pissing match about shich country is best, I have not traveld to other countries except for Canada, which I thought was very similar to the us but higher prices and the people werent very friendly. But hey that was 25yrs ago when I was a kid on vacation. So what is wrong with the Bahamas??

Most US citizens don't go anywhere, ever, so don't have much information about the rest of the world.

Yeah, according to this article http://www.caribbeannetnews.com/2005/04/26/sanders.shtml only 15% of Americans have passports. Although I think it's more like 30%.

Bahamas is not like you see on tv. I mean the land and island is paradise but the people are so ignorant and so selfish. They have no manners and ways to conduct themselves, and they have many gang activities. The land is good but the people are not, wrong match and I cant stay here any longer! thats why im looking for safety and comfort

Yeah, if you move to some third world country what if you need medical treatment? What if the country is taken over by idiots?

Look at Zimbabwe and South Africa. 20 years ago they were rich modern countries. Now they are disaster areas.

Seriously, I think things are going to get very very bad in the next few decades.
America is broke and filling up with Mexicans. In California people of European decent are now in the minority. Ditto New Mexico.

World overpopulation will mean more people trying to escape their shitty countries and go to Europe and America. In a number of European countries the "natives" will be in the minority within 50 years.

Overpopulation + global warming + water shortages + peak oil = heap big trouble.

I don't know about most americans but You could be correct. I do not own a passport and have never left the usa except for the weekend trip to canada when I was a teen many years ago. I would like to tranvel some but am also kinda scared of the idea. I have always wanted to visit england, germany and amsterdam. Don't know about living in either place but a visit would be cool.

Yeah, it's a sad statistic. Especially considering that there are wide tracts of the US that are very homogeneous culturally, so the populace has no exposure to other cultures.

I quite love the Great Plains in the US where I grew up; there is no better place to saddle up your horse and just ride aimlessly, watch a storm gather over the sand hills from miles and miles away ... or get hit by lightning or bitten by a rattler, as I've mentioned here before. But at the same time I am frightened by the cultural isolation there. That's one reason why most of the kids in my family spend a school year abroad by the time they have reached 18 years of age.

I am currently starting my second week after relocating to the US.

I've got to say, the allure of the country from afar and just coming on holidays, has subsided very quickly and the rose colored glasses are well and truly off.

It's dumbfounding some of the things they do here.
