EDITED: Revealing the site is against forum rules! So I will just say that there is a very questionable affiliate
site ranking on the 1st page of Google for the keyword that I discuss below...

I came across this affiliate site while researching some niches.

It ranks on page 1 for the keyword: 'Online Guitar Lessons' as well as many other guitar related searches.

It is clearly an affiliate site, but it only has like 6 pages of content. And of those 6 pages of content, half of it isn't
very good content.

This affiliate site seems to break every single rule of panda/penguin but it is still successful?

So how in the world is this site ranking so high??

Be considerate. Would you have appreciated if your competitor came out and posted your site on BHW and asked members how you ranked your site?

I know it may be frustrating to see others with half the work be ahead of you, but have a sense of professionalism.

Good luck on your journey.

Oh. I didn't mean anything bad by posting this.

I was just trying to ask a question to someone who might know the answer.

I am trying to get into affiliate marketing and not sure which business model to follow.

Seeing this affiliate site ranking kinda had me scratching my head on how it is working
after all of the matt cutts + panda/penguin penalties.

So I wasn't sure if I should mimic this websites strategies or not...

Feedback is essential to getting started down the right path.

Pretty sure this is against the forum rules.

I completely agree with what sn0rt said. Kindly remove the name of the website as its not at all professional to share the links of the blackhat website owners who are working really hard to achieve high rankings and people like you might get all their work down the drain.

Ok. It's fine. They can ban me.

But answers to these types of questions are the REAL methods that are going to
help new affiliates to succeed.

Pretty sure I know what site you're talking about and the guy himself explains it all on his site source-wave.com

..or you can stop being stubborn.

You write like an educated person, stop playing dumb and just remove the site.

Instead of attracting attention to the site (whether or not that's your plan), you can easily avoid snitching on your competitor by simply describing the site.

BTW, if it is your plan to drive negative attention to that person, it'll most likely backfire. The majority of the people here won't have the time to sit here and do a search for the site just to answer your question.

A good description of the site is the better route to go.

I wouldn't put it past anyone if they created an account just to try to get their competitor knocked off the serps by outing them out on here, hence the lack care for the account.

I just checked out the site you recommended and you are spot on sir.

No sir. I am doing nothing of the sort. I was under the impression that I was in a forum where
I could ask affiliate/seo related questions...but I guess I was wrong?

This is the site for.that, but Its not the site to destroy other peoples business ventures though!

Some people are really strange, they find the site - research it and then ask the OP to delete the link. If he didn't post the name of the site i bet 90% of you would ask him to post the site even send him pm asking for the website...

It ranks on page 1 for the keyword: 'Online Guitar Lessons' - You may as well have left the link up. If you're going to edit your original post you may as well do it right. If this was my site id be fuming..

And in my first day on this forum I have already discovered the key to keeping new people new...

Reveal NOTHING about what can really help people to succeed.

Beat around the bush...avoid the subject...give advice that will keep noob's doing busy work and
never really accomplishing anything meaningful...

No wonder the IM world has such a bad rep.

I know exactly what website he is talking about..heehehe. the dude who made the website even had a video of himself on it. He plays alpt of guitar in is seo videos. You know why he is ranking? Because he knows how it works. Why is he ranking with such content? Ask yourself what is good content? If you do not know these things you are better to stop seo or begin your journey of years right here on the forum. Oyeah you know nothing of panda and penguin as i can read. These updates qhere all about ofpage seo.. and over optimization. So clearly you are one of those haters because any seo in their right mind would know why he is ranking. They dont even have to look at the site.

Choose the high ground when your army is exhausted. (Sun tzu)

The owner of that site made a fortune from SEO starting from nothing.

To answer your question, he is using a PBN network, some cloaking for many of his backlinks and of course he is not over optimizing.
Piece of advice: use the "search" function and you will find a wealth of information ;)

Cheers and good luck!

If you did a simple search you would see that this question has been asked a million times.

The answer is simple: Voodoo Magic

Good luck.

9,000 searches with a CPC of around 0.2$, and how in the world did he rank?
Simple question and simple answer - Voodoo Magic.

Are you talking about Alex Becker? He's using a poor excuse for a silo structure. Just imagine if the silo wasn't bleeding like a stuck pig.
