How important is the TLD for an Authority website?

I have a micro-niche website in a very, very off-the-wall niche that is doing quite well. It's been online for around a week and is getting around 4k hits/day without any SEO and some tossed together HTML code that isn't good for much. The design is poor, and the layout is not responsive. Granted this is all going to change in the near future as I want to increase my earnings with the website I have decided to go ahead and attempt to create an authority website in the niche. I know that sounds like a large step for someone just getting involved with Internet marketing, but I believe that I can do it.

Due to the moderation system I can't really explain my question here, so I'll direct you to a pastebin link... carefully...

Not the most, but I believe it has an influence. When I think of Authority website I think of visitors who will come back and not only through SEO. Let's say direct traffic, TLD has an importance when it comes to that. In terms of ranking, .us should be fine (not my favorite though). Are you trying to get an EMD? how about keyword-keyword.com? Or a PMD .

I'm sorry, I'm not really familliar with the terms EMD and PMD as I'm pretty new to the whole IM scene, the goal for this website is basically going to be a combination of a "hub" for gathering information, and viewing galleries/videos as-well as a integrated social platform. I'm learning towards using a .me d0m41n considering the social part of it. I've already got a large portion of the programming done for it, but it's going to be a social platform similar to facebook but for more niche specific users.

Forget about .US. Go with either a .COM or your country's ccTLD, depending on the location of your target audience.
