How important is hosting location?

I'm targeting a european country where my money site is currently hosted. But the hosting is slow and I'm thinking of changing. However, the prices of other hosting providers in this country are pretty steep. So I've thought about moving the site to something like siteground, or some other US based hosting provider. But I'm not sure how much this will affect my current SERP ranking. How important is the sites hosting location with regards to how it affects the SERP?

(I know that faster hosting = often higher cost, but right now I just want to have some decent hosting so that it won't affect my rankings negatively at least, then when I get more traffic I might upgrade)

Use CDN like Cloudflare if you are concerned about your SERP or page speed.

I have some sites hosted on US servers and they're ranked well on UK.
 
Server location is one of the factor for ranking a site in different data center of google.
But there is no certain answer to question that how much it will effect your rankings.
You can make a fair guess by checking the hosting location of other ranking sites for your keyword.
Do a reverse IP check.

Also consider the authority of other ranking sites. If top ranking sites are high authority sites, then their server location will not play a big part. But if you see a small or a new site that is ranking for your keyword, then check its IP. if its hosted on a US server, then you can try to move your site on a US hosting account.

I think hosting is not important to SEO, just domain is important to SEO
 
Use CDN for a better page speed and use an ip fail over system.
 
The problem I see here is that if you were to move your hosting to a European location, you move away from all the non-European you're targeting.

You gotta look at your hosting provider's data center. What is their connectivity? Do they have an uplink to Europe directly? How much Gbps is it? These are the questions you should be asking. A hosting provider is as good as their datacenter, never better.

Going cloud is too expensive, and not necessary.
 
Buddy for ex i think you have hosted a website with Africa targeted content and you have visitors from Africa but your server is located in Texas, USA. This is going to affect the performance of the server in many ways.
 
Hosting location is important because if it's in rare distance from your targeted location means the speed of your site will get reduced.
So,try to change your hosting location for users to give good site speed without any lag.
 
Hosting location is more important because your site is in user friendly it can affects your site.

Web hosting doesn’t directly relate for ranking boost or drop. But, choosing a best hosting provider will avoid such problem, The most common problem are up / down time, speed, location.

If you are targeting specify country then I would suggest you write / change the content of your site to target the different audience. for example if you're targeting France it might be worth mentioning "France" in the content and have it hosted on a French server.
 
Hosting location does matter, but it ain't a game changing factor.
 
Just domain is important to SEO, I think hosting is not important to SEO.
 
I think Hosting location is important. If your website is targeted to user from one country, it's better to locate the website in good hosting site in that country.
It will improve your website loading speed.
If your website is targeted to users around the world use quality server and CDN service.
If your website in multiple languages and targeted users worldwide, you can interlink the contents of different versions using hreflang attribute.

It will be automatically redirected to the article in another language.
 
Hosting in the USA will make not a big difference unless you plan to stream movies or to open a filehoster. With digitalocean my servers are in New York and here in Europe my site loads in 700 ms. Just make sure to choose a good hoster.
 
Try to search around for a local/european host provider with reasonable price. I don't think it is not exist!
