In short, when I am able to open up a Market Place thread for a service I plan to sell, how important is it to have a website to purchase the service?
I am planning to have a thread explaining how to receive a demo package and have the demo, I would give access to the paypal account for the full service depending on what package you would like to select.
The thread would include all the packages available and a thorough explanation of what you will receive and pay, so my concern is if a website is required to run a small business through this forum.

I'd love to hear about your experiences.

You don't need a website if u are selling only for the community/forum

But for business, website is like a virtual store with lot of info that communicate & answer potential customer queries

For selling here only the best sellers have websites hint to others. For a business nobody trusts companies that do not have at least a basic website and smart companies have a great website even if it’s not meant to rank in search engines. Clients need something to view to gain trust.

Thank you for your replies.
Yeah the service I intend to sell would be something I would sell to specific audiences already in forums like these.
To be honest, in my niche, having a website, no matter how pretty, still meant you were likely to get scammed which is why I don't even want to bother making one and just dealing with customers 1-on-1. I appreciate the feedback! Love learning from you guys

You can make a fairly decent website on Google Sites if you don't want to bother with hosting costs and so forth. That way you can have the best of both worlds. You can get a dot com domain for just $1 at ionos.com and attach that to your G site. Just that much can make you look half-decently professional and still do it on the cheap without much fuss.
