How important is google search console for SEO now?

Do you find google search console good enough for guidance related to SEO?

I never use it. I use ahrefs free webmaster for rankings, and stat counter, and wp koko analytics. The first 2 are giving you a one stop multi site dashboard. And the koko analytics is just good for showing SE referrals on your site.

IMO, it's vital. I only use it for making sure all my pages are indexed. Otherwise you won't rank for any target keywords because the pages aren't on Google.

I put BHW into it. I assume most links to BHW are branded.

It's my first stop -- especially if I notice a drop in organic traffic.

Just today, I had a list of 10 recently published articles from a new author. I was able to see which articles were actually getting organic traffic (yes, you can get that in analytics), but Google Search Console made it visually simple to determine that one of the articles was superior to the others. We're now following the formatting and tone of that article for the next batch.

As others have said, it's also great to ensure that Google has indexed a page on your site.

Finally, I've used the Chrome plug in GSC Guardian to map Google Core Updates against my Google Search Console data. It helped me quickly ID if a core update really did change organic traffic:

It's free bruh.
Just implement the tracking code and record the stats.
If you find it useful you can use it. If not, just leave it there.
