How Important Is Dark Mode Feature?

As website owner or website visitor, how important is dark mode feature on website?

I mean, dark mode feature that can be toggled. So, visitors can choose to use light mode or dark mode as they decide (like on Reddit), not default dark mode (like on BHW).

What do you think?

If I’m using a website for countless hours... I would prefer dark mode. Like a cryptocurrency exchange or forum.

If it’s just to read for a minute or two... then I don’t think it’s necessary for dark mode. I still prefer it though since I use dark mode for almost any platform that provides it.

I prefer BHW dark mode but using it in public makes me feel like a pervert.

The white mode seems off to me so I just avoid that.

dark mode most of them interpret wrongly. I never use it.

It is funny when out in public & someone catches a glimpse of the screen & it's in dark mode... All the sudden they are interested in what you're doing like you're watching porn or something. funny shit.

There are some browser that have read mode option as feature. But read mode feature is different than dark mode feature. For long use, I prefer dark mode than read mode.

Giving your visitors the option to choose between light and dark mode is a good idea. It’s an excellent strategy to keep visitors on your website for several hours since a dark screen is easier on the eyes. You can also add read mode, however, people seem to prefer the dark mode option.

I would say dark mode is needed, especially when your better half wants to turn off the lights but you still want to stay glued to your phone for an hour or two more and hang out in forums.
