Hey everyone! I’m wondering how important account age really is when growing on YouTube. Does having an older account help with getting more views, recommendations, or faster monetization? Or is content quality and engagement more important regardless of account age?
Would love to hear your experiences and opinions on this. Thanks!

more than account age, what matters is content quality, focus on picking up trending, interesting topics, focus on creating click bait thumbnails, make sure you edit your videos to a level where you think viewers will engage with it for more than 50% of the running time. Quality beats the age of the channel.

Account age should be the least of your worries when attempting to build a successful youtube channel.

There's no luck on youtube david, it is the strategy even new accounts can boom or skyrocket in a minute

yes, account age is a plus on youtube, however, the quality of your content + engagement means more. Older accounts may receive a trace of trust from the algorithm, but 1k sub and 4000 watch hours in the last year are still the signal that you’ve crossed a threshold and are ready to be monetized. Certain features, like the ability to post community posts or upload custom thumbnails, also unlock at subscriber thresholds, not age.

Consistency, thumbnail design, youtube seo and niching down are the true levers. I know some guys who booked the first gig and exploded within months once their content clicks, but some other channels languish for a decade and never take off. So yeah, channel age is a factor, and youtube likes history, but it likes watch time and engagement more.

Older accounts might have a slight edge with YouTube algorithm trust but it’s not a game-changer.

The algorithm prioritizes watch time, click-through rates and viewer retention over account age. A new account with great content can outsmart an old one with mediocre videos.

Consistency, niche focus and audience interaction drive growth more than account age, like today in 2025, new creators often go viral with one great video but older accounts with no recent activity might struggle. Focus on strong thumbnails, titles and storytelling.

My 2 cents would be - its better prioritise creating value over relying on age.

Having an old account might help a little, but it’s not a big deal. What really matters is how people respond to your videos. If they watch, like, and comment, your channel can grow fast , even if it’s brand new.

The account age does not matter much. What's important is what you are presenting to the users. your videos should be of great quality, They should have click-worthy titles and thumbnails and they also should be well-edited and must be very informative or entertaining. Also, you should know how to market them to your target audience on and off YouTube. Also be sure to be consistent with your uploads. These are what makes a YouTube channel grow, not the account age.
