Out of curiosity, how high would you rank the importance of having a sales copy on your main page?
If you sell some crap that "will change your life" I would rank it high...
Would you consider a sales copy vital to conversions?
Yes, of course sales copy is important however any message delivered to the right audience will get a result. Google Gary Halbert Starving Crowd and read that article in his newsletter.
Sales copy is almost the most important thing. I would rather have a killer sales page and average product than a killer product with average sales page.
The sales copy is very important the product could be great but without the right message...
So basically what I'm asking, do you guys find it necessary to have the sales page?
Edit: This is includes quality of website content.
Sales page or no sales page, whichever is the page that has the 'buy now' button on it must be convincing. Your copy is effectively the fundamental 'pitch' you give to your prospects.
It's essential! You have to ring some bells in your client's brain. He/she has to think: Yeah, that's why I need that product/service! or Just what I needed!
You have to say to your targeted customers WHY they should buy it, and WHY they should buy it from you.
Blah. Sorry, I keep typing sales page but I meant the copy lol.
Anyway, so regardless of how well your content is, it's essential to have a sales copy in order to convince the customers to buy the product? Also, does it necessarily need to have a "Buy Now" button at the bottom or will various ads through the sales copy work? If possible, does anyone know of a sample sales copy template (such as where the "Buy Now" button should go and how it should be formatted)?
Good copy costs thousands of dollars and are by very skilled people some of the best charge 100 grand for one. If you think your gonna make one with some template good luck.
I didn't mean template as to the content of the sales copy, I meant a template as to how the sales copy should be laid out onto the site in general. I just want to know how a sales copy is generally formatted on a site and what it should look like.
To go Don Draper on you, it's the sizzle in the steak.
To clearly answer your questions...
It is absolutely essential, vital, to have sales copy... and not just any sales copy... it must be done it a certain way, must contain certain components in a particular order to work properly. Sales is part science and part art, and both must be included in your page. Furthermore, sales copy needs to be on a landing page just for the product/service you are selling. Every product or service needs it's own sales landing page and should not have any distractions such as links, tabs, or a sidebar. Therefore, your "main" page isn't (usually) a sales page, per se.
To see how a sales page works, you need only to watch an infomercial on TV. They have the same components. A few of them are: The evoke emotion, they create urgency, they provide validation, they have a guarantee of some sort, etc... and they only sell one product for each infomercial
If you don't have the proper sales page, you won't convert well. I am not an expert with sales copy but I am an expert in business and I know the importance of sales copy!!
Sell copy is life blood of sells.
There no money without a sales page
Sales copy is literally the most important thing when it comes for selling.
It would be worth the time and money to invest in a good sales copy. Your conversions will reflect on how well its put together.
