How important is PR to a site. Do you really need a high PR to rank for keywords? And what method is the best way to get high PR?

Page rank really does not play a major role in ranking,
your anchor text on various other site does.

* determining the original source of content when duplicates of a page exist
* selecting the initial set of results (before re-ranking them based on other factors)
* establishing the crawl priority and crawl depth of a site

But when determining which site ranks better than the next, link diversity is typically far more important than raw PageRank. And even though PageRank is supposed to be query independent, Google warps their view of the web graph where necessary to improve relevancy, like when localizing search results.

So PR isn't important at all?

PR is not important. Traffic is king. I have a PR4 homepage site that gets out performed by my PR1 and PR2 sites. They get more traffic, better quality traffic, higher conversions and rank higher

I was researching about it a while ago and watched a video of a guy explaining that PR is like a tie breaker in some cases,
for example:
lets say Google is searching the web for a keyword, and it sees two webpages with very similar information on it, the difference is the PR, then Google will choose the webpage that has a higher PR over the lower one, but if the content on the page with the lower PR will be better then Google would stick with the page that has a lower PR because of better content.

Ignore PR, start looking at more important factors like Domain Authority, Page Authority, and mozTrust.

important, in some way. When you get your back links from a website that has high pagerank then it simply means that the website that is important in Google's eye is considering your website also important and that is why it is linking to your website. Google notices such back links and gives higher value to those back links. This should tell you another important factor that is not all back links are treated equally by Google and this applies to the other search engines as well.

Its totally not important for your site. It is however important for the sites where you have backlinks, as higher PR will pass on more link juice. But most of my sites are PR0 or PR1 and they get plenty of traffic and conversions.

Get permanent backlinks from high PR, authority websites in your niche. That is high quality backlinks and will drive your site up the SERPs

Buy related expired domains for $7-$12 (that have at least PA 20), give them private Whois data, put them on separate hosting accounts, build related sites on them, plug them into you favorite backlink machines, build links from them to your money sites, and boom.

Of course buying aged domains with high authority is better but those will generally be in the $25-$75+ range

my infosite.net used to dominate both google local and global result. It was even out-ranking the original mainsite.com/net sites which were PR4/PR3 respectively. My main kw was ranking #1 followed by my other long tail KWs on page 1.

but it was slapped for i think 3-5 months last year. Did nothing. Then suddenly came back again at #3. mainsite.com/net are now #1 and #2 respectively.

but i still get a around 180UV daily.

KW1 = word1word2 = 14.8k exact Global / 12.1k exact local search
KW2 = word1 word2 = 12.1k exact Global / 12.1k exact local search

my PR was updated to PR1 on the last update. But the serp did not change.

so i think PR has nothing to do with serp. Or was i just only lucky?

Get back-links from high PR niche sites whether blog post or blogroll links. And also build back-links with high PR SBM, Web 2.0, Article links and press release links.

Important thing, you can diversify your anchor text to build back-links. Definitely it will improve that keyword to #1 pos.

Content and link both are important to get high traffic.Without quality link you can not get high traffic and also unique content is play very important part to get high traffic.
