How important high pr links and edu links

.EDU links are great as they come from Educational sites in which most of the time are not only reputable but have high Page Ranks!

I can sign the opinion that edu links are good in every case.
It is unnatural for e-commerce sites to get edu links and I know a case where they have caused a penalty.
 
The rule of thumb is: the higher the PR, the better the link.

If they are .edu or .gov, then it's a plus.

Is that e-commerce website penalized for only having edu backlinks?
 
Get backlinks from other language sites. Because the other language websites has less OBLs. Less OBLs greater reputation.
 
Well what do the big boys do? Where can you get these .gov links naturally?
