How important are social signals?

Does google instantly detect corresponding/linked social media accounts with a website?

I've paid for SEO Link building services 20 days ago and i'm not seeing much success with my website, the only thing i can think of is that my Google+, Facebook, Instagram and Pintrest pages have a handful of followers.

Currently using instagress to build followers.. only managed 22 in the lat couple of hours.

Not sure exactly what i want from this thread, maybe some inspiration from some experience? Perhaps one of you has a story where you've massively jumped up google rankings just because of a few hundred "likes"?

I shouldn`t get into this discussion, because I`m involved in the social signals biz. But if anything else fails to convince you, at least you should understand why google+ shares and +1s are a factor in ranking websites. This is the only thing I`ll add so you don`t think I`m interested in getting a new client :P
 
Social signals do help SEO, but mostly indirectly.
Increased eyes on your content means increased organic shares and links.

Some speculate Google uses search metrics when ranking websites, but Matt Cutts said at one point that this isn't the case.

Many studies of top ranking blog posts had a high number of social metrics.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was a hidden search ranking factor. If it became known like backlinks, it too would be abused.

Some of my top competitors barely use social media so I don't think it is really s ranking factor.

To put it simply Google has minimal info from social networks signals and also it is easy to spam social signals with a few bucks at places like Fiver. That said I think it offers social proof to your website for visitors and could help conversions. It also is possible Google uses them a little but they surely aren't a replacement for links or anything.
 
Simple Answer: Very Very Important...
 
SS doesn't do shit for your rankings, no matter what people say for rankings social signals does absolutely nothing, but....

I'll bet my house that Google will use SS to validate your backlinks, just think about it you have a new site, you get 500 backlinks a day and no SS, how can that not be a red flag, especially as the data is easily obtainable for a company like Google, hell it is even easy for you with a WP plugin :)

I guess it matter in some cases. The post which got the most shares from G+ and FB is ranking on Page #1 but the post which got a lot of FB shares and likes didn't. So, i guess getting some FB and twitter shares and retweets matters less than getting G+ shares and +1. :D
 
Hello, I would like to know, if it's good to buy social signals? I read a lot about buying social singals, but I still don't know the answer. I thinking about to buy some, but for example, if you buy G+ google knows what kind of social signals is it. If you understand me.

i have a fb page deleted, but i still rank #1, go and figure it out
 
Social signals are very important if you sell social signals in the marketplace.
Every seller will confirm that.
 
googlebot has definitely evolved and seems heavily reliant on at least backlinks from social media outlets, including and especially reddit. google loves reddit
 
If you include reddit in your definition of social signals you may as well include forums and news sites.
The social signals in question are likes/shares/whatevs on fb/tw/g+
 
hudsonhicks social signs can be very important but it varies on the subject and other competitors in the key word niche you are trying to rank.
