Hey everyone,

I’ve been following the SEO game for a while, and one thing that always comes up is backlinks. But with all the recent Google updates, I keep asking myself:

Is backlink quality more important than ever, or are we slowly moving into an era where backlinks are losing their power compared to on-page and content signals?

From what I’ve seen in my own testing:
  • Links from topically relevant sites seem to push rankings faster.
  • Random high DA backlinks without relevance don’t move the needle much anymore.
  • Diversifying anchor texts feels safer than trying to push exact match anchors.
But here’s the confusing part: I still see some competitors ranking with massive amounts of low-quality backlinks. It makes me wonder if Google’s link evaluation is still inconsistent.

I’d love to hear your thoughts:
  • Are backlinks still the main “ranking currency” in 2025?
  • Do niche edits, guest posts, or PBNs still give you results?
  • Or is it smarter to put 80% of effort into content + technical SEO now?
Looking forward to your insights!

Cheers,

Backlinks still matter, but quality and relevance beat quantity. Pair them with strong content and techanical SEO.

1) YES! Main ranking factor, and as our team sees from different locations and niches, the role of the backlinks has been increasing
2) Of course
3) You should do all 3: technical, on-page, and off-page, but links are still crucial!

Backlinks are still important in 2025, but quality and relevance matter much more than quantity. Links from topically relevant and authoritative sites can boost rankings effectively, while random high-DA links without context have little impact. Diversifying anchor text is also safer than relying on exact-match anchors.

At the same time, focusing on content and technical SEO is increasingly important. A strong site structure, fast loading, mobile optimization, and high-quality content help Google understand and rank your site. The best approach is balanced: build a few high-quality backlinks while putting most effort into content and technical optimization for sustainable results.

Yeah, quality links still matter, but now relevance and content strength play a bigger role. I’d say mix both - strong niche links + solid on-page gives the best results.

Backlinks still matter, but quality beats quantity now. Quality, context and strong on-page signalsnals win in 2025. spammy links might work short-term, but real authority lasts.

You are right, that's the perfect balance in 20205. Backlinks amplify good content, but they can't replace it. strong techincal foundations are relevant, authoritative links together create lasting rankings.

Backlink quality in 2025 = niche relevant. Get niche relevant, clean domains that can point to your website.

I always say this, Backlinks will forever be important.

Backlink is the footpath of search engine crawlers, without links crawlers can not fetch updated data on the internet.

For the internet to be alive, data must be interconnected through links.

Link source is now a powerful indicator to ranking.
